The PV 444 was Volvo's big post-war car: a unitary body, a split V-shaped windscreen and a short-stroke four-cylinder engine that grew from 1.4 to 1.6 litres late in the 1950s. Series production ran from 1947 to 1958, after which the PV 544 took over with a one-piece screen. Collectors tend to chase the late E-series cars, the twin-carburettor sports versions, and oddities such as the open conversions that surface under the PV 444 Convertible label. Designations like PV444E, PV444ES, PV444 DS and PV 444K turn up regularly in our listings.
