Launched in 1996 as the replacement for the XJS, the XK8 introduced Jaguar's AJ-V8 engine and was offered in coupé and convertible form. The supercharged XKR arrived in 1998 with a substantial step up in performance, and the early-2000s revisions brought a 4.2-litre V8 and a six-speed automatic.
