Introduced in 1967 as Pontiac's take on the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird ran through four generations until 2002. Collectors tend to chase the first-generation coupés and convertibles with Ram Air 400 power, and the second-generation Trans Am of the 1970s, especially the black-and-gold Special Edition cars that became known as the Bandit after Smokey and the Bandit. Between those sit the milder Esprit and the sportier Formula, while the lighter third generation arrived for 1982. Cars offered here have spanned model years from 1968 to 1987.
Rust around the rear window channel, floors and front frame rails is a familiar weak spot on second-generation cars, and T-top seals rarely stay dry forever. Check that engine, transmission and build codes tell the same story, and that stripes and spoilers aren't hiding a converted base car. Buying or selling a Pontiac Firebird is straightforward at auction on Bidders Highway.
