The Porsche that found home
"Sot" has found its home again. Seven years ago, my brother and I bought our first Porsche. Our wallets were limited, but our requirements were crystal clear – it had to be a 911. So we chose perhaps the most unloved of them all, the 996. A black, fairly naked car with no equipment, imported from France, with an engine already changed, sitting on questionable Chinese coilovers and with an exterior that had seen better days. But it was mechanically sound – and for us, it was a golden opportunity.

August is often a slightly quieter month on the auction scene, and so it is this year. But beneath the surface, it is noticeable that we are facing a trend shift. I see bidding continuing to be lively and interest high, but willingness to pay has slowed compared to recent years. At the same time, we have had a very strong influx of objects – something that bodes well for the autumn. It is also extra nice that our No Reserve auctions have received attention and resulted in several really successful closings.

The month of June began with anticipation – not least because May, which started slowly, ended at record speed. We were curious to see if the trend would continue. It did – and more. June was an outstanding month on Bidders Highway, with many strong closings and continued great engagement from both buyers and sellers.

A prize-winning 1938 Dodge and a 1956 Corvette were some of the highlights from February's auctions. The idea that you can't buy a cab in the winter doesn't seem to be true. In fact, we often see better bids during the winter months when it's easier to break through the noise. Most often, it's the sellers who have to be convinced that the time is right, the buyers are there and always ready.

January is always a bit of a strange month from a sales perspective. It is fickle and polarizing. Some have fresh New Year's resolutions that slow down any impulse purchases while others are hungry for more. Add to that that January 2025, was short, started late and it took a while for us car geeks to digest the food and get started after the Christmas food coma. Then it happened, full speed again, and what a start it was!
February 11, 2025 10:35The CEO has the floor - December/January
Dear enthusiasts, it's time for us to make a New Year's resolution. Not only to strive for increased joy in life but to counteract the possible risk that many older cars risk falling into oblivion during the generational changes in our own ranks. The resolution is - Get out and drive your cars!
