Sot is back – and what a week it was!

Sot is back – and what a week it was!

There is something very special about driving a car you really know. A car you have had, missed – and got back. Like finding a pair of old favorite jeans forgotten in a box out at the summer cottage. For me, it's about my old Porsche 996 Carrera 2, a -98 with a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and diff. A car that I have put my own stamp on over the years, with modifications that make it perfect for both everyday use and trackday. This week has really reminded me of why we love cars – and why I am so glad that Sot is back home.

The Porsche that found home

The Porsche that found home

"Sot" has found its home again. Seven years ago, my brother and I bought our first Porsche. Our wallets were limited, but our requirements were crystal clear – it had to be a 911. So we chose perhaps the most unloved of them all, the 996. A black, fairly naked car with no equipment, imported from France, with an engine already changed, sitting on questionable Chinese coilovers and with an exterior that had seen better days. But it was mechanically sound – and for us, it was a golden opportunity.

The CEO has the floor - August

August is often a slightly quieter month on the auction scene, and so it is this year. But beneath the surface, it is noticeable that we are facing a trend shift. I see bidding continuing to be lively and interest high, but willingness to pay has slowed compared to recent years. At the same time, we have had a very strong influx of objects – something that bodes well for the autumn. It is also extra nice that our No Reserve auctions have received attention and resulted in several really successful closings.
