Basic information and history
The 1970 Volvo 142 Automatic is a sought-after classic among Swedish car enthusiasts. It is a model that combines classic Volvo looks with reliable Swedish engineering and practical features. This example is particularly notable for its fantastically well-preserved condition and interesting history – a genuine Norrland car that has never been rust-repaired, making it a rare find in today's market.
The car is well preserved with original details preserved throughout the cabin and under the dashboard. An extra curiosity is that this is the first year with rear window heating for the Volvo 142, and a period fuel heater is also included. The car has never been rust-repaired, has floors in new condition and is an unusually untouched example. A service tag marked with the original owner's information accompanies the car - a detail that shows the care and history behind this Volvo.
Equipment and options
- Automatic transmission ("automatic steering wheel")
- Original stereo
- 100% untouched electronics under the dashboard
- Original rear window heater (first model year with this option)
- Time-typical fuel heater (included)
- Service tag with original owner's information
This example has retained all its original equipment and all electronics are completely untouched . No visible modifications or modernizations have been made. Small paint renovations have been made on some areas, to fix minor paint damage, but otherwise the car is basically as it was when it left the factory.
Condition
Body and exterior: The paint is in good condition and the chrome, moldings, headlight lenses and emblems are in very good condition. There are only minor paint renovations, presumably due to minor paint damage - nothing that detracts from the overall impression. The windows are in very good condition. The car has never been rust-repaired and the floor is in mint condition - unusual for a Volvo of this model year! Notes on the body: The left front fender and the front plate have been replaced at some point, probably after a minor incident. The fender's wheel arch opening is slightly larger than the right, but this affects neither function nor overall impression. The car has never been rust-repaired.
Interior: The interior is original and in very good condition. The headliner, steering wheel, controls and buttons are preserved in very good original condition – a pleasure for anyone who appreciates originality.
Tires and rims: The car is equipped with new tires.
Mechanics and Function: Engine, brakes, gearbox and drivetrain are in very good condition. Everything works as it should, making this a car you can start enjoying right away.
Service history
The last service was performed in 2022 with the replacement of oil and filters, air filter, water pump, spark plugs, spark plugs, rotor, cover, switch tips, capacitor and brake pads all around.
The car is exempt from inspection and is sold with some documentation regarding its service history. The historical documentation including the old service tag provides a unique element that illustrates the car's genuine and carefully handled past.
Summary
This is a unique opportunity to acquire a well-preserved Volvo 142 Automatic from 1970, in original condition and without previous rust repair. This is a dream car for those looking for an authentic, Swedish example worthy of a car museum while being fully usable. Hi, what's the first registration date of this nice volvo ? Best regards
Hi, first date of registration is the 1 of January 1970! /Best regards
Is there an oil leak in the front? The pan, cross ties look soaked?
I don’t think so, but I will check!
There are no oil leaks!
Jens Trulsson/Bidders Highway
Hej
