Basic information and history

A classic with a Swedish motoring soul! Here is your chance to acquire a unique 1964 Volvo PV , a model that has made an impression for its robust engineering and reliability. This wagon carries a period design and a history that makes it a real find for the true car enthusiast.

The current example has been owned by the owner since 1971 and has its origins as a Swedish-sold car in Sundsvall in 1964. The car was purchased by the current owner when the family was growing – a car that has been present at the big occasions in life, such as weddings and confirmations. Over the years, the car has mainly been used as a utility car until the end of the 1990s. Since then, it has been cared for tenderly and only used on special occasions.

A big advantage is that the car has been stored in a heated garage since 1984 – something that has provided the best conditions for maintaining its condition. All information in this advertisement is provided by the seller .

Equipment and options

  1. Standard equipment
  2. New ceiling
  3. Good frames around lamp housing (new)
  4. Chrome strips for screens included (not mounted)
  5. Drum brakes, all parts recently replaced

Modifications and improvements:

In the late 1990s, all known rust damage was repaired, including sills, wheel arches, and fenders. The car was repainted at this time and has since been driven sparingly.

Condition

Body and exterior condition:

The body is in very good condition thanks to extensive rust removal and repainting. There are a few minor scratches on the left front fender (see attached photo). Chrome, moldings and headlight lenses are in good condition, chrome moldings for the fenders are included but are not installed. Glass windows are without visible damage.

Interior:

The interior is well preserved with only a small "tear" on the left inner door. New headliner installed - very little wear on the steering wheel, controls and buttons.

Tires and rims:

The tires are new since 2008 and the car has driven about 1500 kilometers on them – still in very good condition.

Mechanics and function:

The engine is untouched but runs flawlessly according to the seller. The brake system has recently been renovated with new drums, pistons, brake pads etc. (last replaced in 2022). The gearbox and driveline have no known defects.

Service history

Service has been meticulously maintained by the current owner, who worked at a gas station and had the opportunity to regularly lubricate joints and carry out oil and filter changes. The service book is filled out according to the manufacturer's intervals. Unfortunately, there are no saved protocols, as most of it was done by the owner himself.

The car was last inspected on 2018-05-31 at 39,462 km, and is then exempt from inspection .

Summary

This Volvo PV from 1964 is an excellent example for those looking for a Swedish classic with a documented background and solid care. Few older vehicles are offered with the same transparency, ownership history and original condition. With extensive rust protection work carried out, well-maintained operation and long-term heated garage storage, this car is an undoubted collector's item that will brighten up both parades and summer outings.

Don't miss the chance to get your hands on a rolling story from Swedish automotive history, ready for new memories!
