Volvo 1800 S from 1966 – a rare and very well-documented one-owner car in right-hand drive, sold in Sweden and delivered brand new by Bildeve AB in Helsingborg.

The car was ordered new by lecturer Bertil Wigurd, who owned it from delivery in 1966 until his death. The reason for the right-hand drive design was Bertil's frequent stays in England during his studies and later recurring trips there. Right-hand traffic was to be introduced in Sweden the following year, but the car retained its unusual specification throughout its life. Bertil later became lecturer in economics at Lund University and used the car sparingly – he often cycled to work – which has contributed to its fine preservation.

The car is in an unrenovated and very honest condition, fully drivable and with a clear patina. It is largely in original paint, with minor repairs. The leather interior is intact and nice with normal age-related wear; the rear seat cushion has been out of the car for a long time and is therefore in very good condition. The chrome is slightly aged but contributes to the genuine overall impression.

In April 2021, a major technical review was carried out at Bildeve in Helsingborg, including a brake overhaul with replacement of brake pipes, ignition parts and service. The car is easy to start, runs well in the engine and gearbox and has been exempt from inspection since 2017.

A unique Volvo 1800 S with an unusually fine provenance and documented life history – a car to preserve rather than improve.
