Basic information and History
The MG MGB was produced from 1962 until 1980 and was the successor to the previous MGA model. The model was sold in several different versions and the classic roadster model has always been the most popular. This example is from 1973 and is a later "Mark II" model that received a few upgrades, including a synchronized gearbox which was well appreciated.
The car was sold new in England and came to Sweden in 2017 where it has had 6 enthusiastic owners who have taken care of the car.
Equipment and Options
The car has a 4-speed synchronized gearbox, 14" aluminum rims, cargo rail on the tailgate and of course a couple of period emblems. Wood details such as the stylish sports steering wheel, panels, gear knob and an original stereo.
Condition
The condition is good for its age and it presents itself well, but the seller says that there are a couple of remarks. There is a bump at the bottom of the hood, a couple of rust bubbles and the hood has been repainted but not by a professional workshop. Glass parts are in good condition, chrome parts and moldings are in OK condition with some patina and the original wheels are very nice.
The seller has noted slight leakage from the engine, which is not unusual for such an old car, but the engine and gearbox are described as being in good working order.
The steering wheel and controls have normal wear, as does the dashboard/panels.
Mechanically and electrically, the car works as it should.
For other condition, we refer to the image material.
Service history
Last service was carried out on 2021-05-21 by Ekman's workshop and there is some service documentation carried out by previous users. The last inspection was carried out on 2021-06-11 without any comments.
Summary
A real English nostalgia car and predecessor of the modern sports car with patina and with the right look! An affordable example that can be used as is or as a basic object for a renovation.
