BMW launched its 8 Series (E31) as the brand's technological flagship in the early 1990s. The 850iA from 1992 combines the V12 engine M70B50 with a ZF automatic transmission and an advanced chassis and electronics architecture for its time. The elegant coupé lacks a B-pillar and has recessed side windows, pop-up headlights and an aerodynamic profile. The drivetrain uses an electronic throttle EML with dual motor controls. The result is a gran turismo that still appeals to knowledgeable drivers with its combination of long-distance comfort and classic BMW character. No wonder we at Bidders Highway chose an 8 Series as our company car!

This example is a BMW 850iA from 1992, imported from Germany and equipped with the unusual Color Line, here in Tobago Blue. Other equipment worth mentioning includes Servotronic , EDC and electrically adjustable seats with memory. The odometer reading is 230,500 km . The car carries several period options such as green-wedged windscreen and rear window, electric sunroof, HiFi sound and CD changer. According to the seller, there is documentation from previous owners and service has been handled by the same specialist workshop since 2015. Noteworthy is that the E31 was one of the first series-produced GT cars with extensive electronic integration and low noise levels at high speed, while the V12 delivers approximately 300 hp and 450 Nm in a silky smooth manner.

Modifications and improvements: the tailgate has been repainted during the current owner. Otherwise, the car is stated to be in original condition with original BMW Turbine 7.5Jx16 ET15 rims and original Business CD and CD changer.

Condition

Body and paint: Very good for age and mileage. A few stone chips and a small dent on the lower right part of the hood without paint chips. The tailgate has been repainted. The black decorative strip above the left door has a small break mark. Small paint chip of approximately 3 mm on the hatch for attaching the roof rack, right front. Headlight glass in good condition. Rear emblem slightly worn. Glass windows in good condition without major stone chips. See pictures for your own assessment.

Interior: Very good condition without damage. There is a minor scratch on the decorative panel at the bottom of the gear selector. The headliner is in very good condition. Steering wheel, controls and buttons in good condition. Electric windows and other functions are said to work, however the sunroof does not automatically stop in its rest position and you need to stop it manually at the correct position. Tires and rims: Very good tires, Goodyear EfficientGrip 225/55 R16, manufactured week 51 of 2020. Original BMW Turbine rims 7.5Jx16 ET15, a small scratch mark on the left front rim.

Mechanics and function: Engine in good condition and runs as it should. The gearbox shifts correctly and there are no noises in the drivetrain. The brakes were checked in week 52 of 2025 and the master brake cylinder was replaced in week 2 of 2026. Electronics: pixel error on the radio and trip computer. The sunroof's auto-stop does not work as intended, see above. The key's remote lock does not work, despite replacing the battery, and the car must be opened manually.

Service history

Latest service: oil change and brake inspection week 52, 2025. Master brake cylinder replacement week 2, 2026.

According to the seller, service and repairs have been handled since 2015 by Per Larsson BMT AB. Documentation is also available from previous owners. Documentation in the form of receipts and protocols is included, according to the information.
