Basic Information and History
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2.0 is an iconic sports coupé that embodies the Italian design and driving joy of the 1980s. This particular example from 1986 offers a unique opportunity to acquire a classic that feels virtually untouched and is now back on the road for the first time in over 30 years. If you're looking for a true enthusiast’s car with an intriguing history and potential for car shows or further preservation, this is an excellent choice.
According to the seller, the vehicle was originally sold new in Sweden. The car has had a total of 14 previous owners. An interesting detail is that it was decommissioned in 1997 and remained off the road for over three decades until now. Between 2015 and 2017, it was registered but reportedly not driven.
The most recent approved inspection (besiktning) was carried out on 2025-06-12. All information above has been provided by the seller.
Fun fact: The car still retains its original interior in very good condition. Several of the factory plastic floor coverings are still in place. This is the first time in 30 years the car has been taken out of the garage—photos of its storage are available!
Equipment and Options
- Original interior (completely unmodified)
- Period-style radio with Bluetooth (aftermarket, but blends in with the era and design)
- Vinyl headliner
- New Kumho tires
- Manual transmission
- No other modifications. All controls, steering wheel, and buttons are in good condition, with the exception of the gear knob (worn paint) and the dipped beam switch (shows signs of wear).
Condition
Body & Exterior: The paint is generally in good condition, with some scratches and paint damage. A notable scratch is present on the rear, caused by a previous owner backing into something—paint has flaked off in that area. Additional minor scratches from tight garage storage are also visible. The body is otherwise rust-free, with the exception of a spot near the trunk drain and at the rear window frame, where paint has started to flake.
Glass & Trim: The windows are in good condition, with only a minor scratch on the driver’s side. The front and rear emblems have some paint loss, but the chrome and trim are otherwise in good shape.
Tires & Wheels: Brand new Kumho tires. The wheels have previously been refurbished, but some paint is now starting to peel.
Interior: Exceptionally well-preserved, with a nearly unused feel. Several factory plastic covers remain in place. The gear knob’s paint has worn off, and the dipped beam switch is worn. The vinyl headliner is complete and intact.
Mechanics & Functionality:
- Engine: In good condition, recently serviced, and starts on the first try.
- Brakes: All brakes have recently been replaced after the car’s long storage.
- Gearbox/Drivetrain: No issues reported.
- Electronics: The electric side windows sometimes require multiple presses to function—troubleshooting is ongoing.
Service History
The most recent service was reportedly carried out in January. During the latest inspection, all brakes were replaced. Unfortunately, no earlier service records or receipts are available, as these were lost by a previous owner. The included documentation consists of the original owner’s manual. All information has been provided by the seller.
Summary
This 1986 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2.0 offers the chance to own a charming Italian sports coupé with classic design and a fascinating backstory. With an original and well-preserved interior, recently serviced mechanicals, and only minor cosmetic flaws, it's ready for both enthusiast ownership and further restoration.
