The GTV badge has covered several distinct generations. It began with the Bertone-bodied 105-series cars, where the early-1970s 2000 GTV is the one most collectors chase, and continued with the Alfetta GTV, built around a rear transaxle and de Dion rear end. Within that family the GTV6 2.5, with Busso's V6, remains the enthusiasts' favourite. From 1995 came the Pininfarina-styled 916, offered with the Twin Spark four and the 24-valve V6, the 3.0 sitting at the top of the range.
Rust is the usual enemy, so check sills, arches, floors and suspension turrets carefully. Transaxle cars wear out their flexible couplings and gearlinkage, and on Twin Spark and V6 engines a documented cambelt and service history matters. Bidders Highway is the place to bid on or consign an Alfa Romeo GTV.
