Basic information and history

Domestically sold Volvo Amazon from 1962 that was previously bought by foreign owners who planned to have the car as an enthusiast vehicle in Sweden. Unfortunately, the owners have now moved from Sweden and left the car behind. The car has been standing for a while but is in good working order and according to the current caretaker can be spruced up with a little washing and cleaning! Over the years, the car has only had 3 previous owners. The odometer reads 58470km but cannot be guaranteed.

Customarily equipped with Volvo's bulletproof B18A of approx. 70hp/130nm connected to a 4-speed gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

Condition

The bodywork is in very good condition with only minor marks, especially given its age. There is various wear and patina from years past, including on the front bumper's left "horn" where there is a small bump. The rear bumper has some minor dents as well. There are traces of repair visible behind the right rear wheel. However, the car is stainless, which is always a big plus! The current owner informs that there are 4 stone chips, two of which are on the bonnet, one under the moldings on the right front door and one above the tailgate which are worth mentioning. Right rear door has traces of repair and therefore a little bad paint. We are informed that the vehicle gives an unrestored impression, but traces of touch-up/painting can be seen as there are traces of paint on e.g. tailgate rubber strip. The glass panes are in good condition and look good after a wipe. Chrome, moldings and lamp glass are in generally OK condition. There is various wear on the chrome, as it should be after so many years. The rims have some rust spots on the surface. The tires, Michelin XZX look like new and with good tread depth.

The interior is in good condition for its age. Front seats and back seat are completely fresh with minor traces of use. The front seats have been replaced with green seats with a slightly deeper style. There is a small scratch on the edge of the driver's seat and some minor discoloration of the fabric in the back seat. Steps and door sides have normal wear considering age. The instrument panel has some poor fit around the speedometer and dry cracks. The inner roof is in good condition and sits where it should. Steering wheel, buttons and knobs give a worn impression for their age. All electronics in the passenger compartment work as intended. A stereo is fitted but not tested.

The engine starts and runs as a B18 is expected to do. When it has been standing for a period, it is a bit difficult to start until the soup arrives. In previous driving the car has run fine as long as the choke is handled correctly. During the test drive that took place before the photo shoot, the engine did not offer any surprises. The brakes work well. The last inspection took place in 2018 and the car is now exempt from inspection.

Summary

Swedish classic that has been left behind as the owners unfortunately need to move back to their home country. The car is now looking for a new enthusiast who can show it love and once again drive it on along our country roads.
