Rambulance – when the thirst for adventure was given free rein

Some vehicles are built to fit into everyday life. Others are built to leave it. The Rambulance—a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 repurposed as a full-scale overland vehicle—is just such a machine. A rolling home, an expedition vehicle, and a freedom machine all in one, created for those who would rather follow the horizon than the road signs.

Let's start from the beginning. What exactly is an overland build?

Overlanding is about self-sufficient travel where the vehicle is the hub of the adventure. The focus is not only on extreme off-road driving – but on being able to travel far, for a long time and independently of infrastructure. An overland build therefore means that the car is equipped with solutions for accommodation, energy supply, water, storage and robust accessibility. It should work just as well for a night by a mountain lake as for weeks out in the wilderness. Comfort and capacity in balance.

The Base: American Raw Strength

The basis of this build is a Dodge Ram 2500 – a platform known for its robustness, towing capacity and durability. A heavy-duty pickup built to work hard, but here refined into something significantly more sophisticated. With four-wheel drive, a powerful drivetrain and a chassis designed for tough loads, there are the right conditions for serious expeditions – regardless of whether the direction points towards Nordic landscapes or dusty continental roads.

The transformation: From pickup to expedition vehicle

It is the conversion that makes the Rambulance unique. Woodland Motors has created a well-designed whole where every component is chosen with expedition in mind.

The bed has been rebuilt with a specially adapted accommodation module, a robust outer structure from a real ambulance. The chassis and body are extensively upgraded with 5500 components, reinforced and extended frame and protection underneath. The electricity and lighting are upgraded for work and travel in the dark. The cabinet interior is custom-built with a focus on self-catering and low friction in daily use. The entire vehicle is freshly painted in Ferrari Rosso with professionally performed dismantling for full paint.

The suspension and chassis have been upgraded to handle the added weight and improve off-road capability, along with rough-tread Toyo Open Country M/T all-terrain tires mounted on heavy-duty Black Rhino rims. Equipment includes robust bumpers, additional lighting for night driving, a winch, and smart storage solutions for tools and expedition accessories.

Inside, you'll find a compact but well-thought-out layout with an integrated kitchen, a refrigerator with tilt function, a water system, and comfortable sleeping areas both in the roof tent and with the help of the folding table. The material choices are made to withstand use – not just to look good in pictures.

The whole results in a vehicle that is not only built to take you far – but to let you stay where you want, regardless of the season.

More than just adventure

Rambulance is also something so unusual as an adventure vehicle with clear commercial potential. It works excellently as a rolling advertising pillar for a company in, for example, outdoor, construction, energy, vehicles or adventure tourism. With its impressive presence, it attracts attention regardless of whether it is at a trade fair, an event or parked in the middle of the city center.

A car for explorers

On Bidders Highway, objects sometimes appear that stretch the definition of an enthusiast car. Rambulance is one such car. It speaks not only to the car enthusiast – but to the explorer. To the photographer who chases the midnight sun. To the person who would rather wake up by a mountain lake than in a hotel.

This isn't just a Dodge Ram 2500. It's a ticket away from everyday life. And right now, it's waiting for its next adventure.
