Founded in Nuremberg, the factory built everything from heavy touring machines to small two-strokes before production came to an end in the 1980s.

Among enthusiasts the marque stands for solid engineering and a certain stubborn independence: pressed-steel frames, shaft drive and flat-twin engines. The pre-war K series, including the K500, has a firm following among collectors, as do the post-war boxers and the Bella scooters. From the 1960s and 70s it is the lightweight two-strokes such as the KS50 and KS100 that draw most interest, often as a first classic or a winter project.
