Volvo P1800 V8 Restomod 1966 – Elmia-Awarded Icon with a BMW Heart

Basic Information and History

This 1966 Volvo P1800 is far from your average classic. Following an extensive restomod transformation, it now stands as a unique and award-winning vehicle, equipped with a BMW drivetrain and interior. After the build, the car was owned by automotive personality Bobo “BilTokig,” before being sold via Kaiser Classic, where the current owner acquired it about a year ago.

The car received the Jury’s Award in Hall A at the 2025 Elmia Custom Motor Show, highlighting its exceptional build quality and striking presence. It is now inspection-exempt and ready to be enjoyed by a new enthusiast.

Interior:

Seats, door panels, sill plates, and dashboard are all in good condition

Headliner in perfect condition

Steering wheel, controls, and switches function – though the onboard computer is not operational

Mechanical and Technical:

Engine: BMW V8 in good condition, approx. 240,000 km

Transmission and drivetrain: No unusual noises or issues

Brakes: In good condition

Electronics: Everything functions as it should, including AC, interior lighting, and power windows

Service History

A major service was recently carried out by Dennis at Kaiser Classic. All fluids, including the rear differential oil and all spark plugs, were replaced. The underbody has been treated with Krown to prevent future rust.

The car passed inspection about a year ago and is now inspection-exempt under current regulations.

Summary

This is not just a Volvo P1800 – it is a show-winning, professionally built restomod that combines classic Swedish design with German engineering. Perfect for anyone seeking something unique, practical, and spectacular – both on the road and at the car show.
