Basic information and history

French 90s charm in a small package, a domestically sold 1990 Renault 5 with only 81447km on the odometer. First owner acquired the car on 31-08-1990 and sold it on to a lady on 04-09-1992. At the first change of ownership, the car had traveled 18,000 km. In 2012, the lady stopped driving the car and it then remained in a garage until January 2023, until the current owner bought the car.

Equipped with a 1.4-liter four of approx. 58hp/100nm coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive.

Condition

The body comes in surprisingly good condition and is free from rust on the under carriage. However, there is rust on the body and the owner describes: Rust is below the windscreen, which has been touch-up painted. At the front of the bonnet there is a small blister in the paint also on the driver's door. At the bottom of the the driver's door there are some surface rust spots. There are some minor scratches, I think in three places. All this is in the pictures. Apart from the touch-up paintings under the windscreen, the car has nice original paint. Glass panes are described as being in very fine condition. The rims are free of damage and the tires are described as having a bunch of years on the neck but good with patterns.

The interior is in very good condition considering the years that have passed since 1990. Seats and seating surfaces are free of wear and damage. The steering wheel is in good condition, as are the dashboard, buttons and controls. Inner ceiling in good condition. Door sides without usual wear, but some material wear on the right rear door, right by the inner handle.

Engine is described to be in as good condition as possible with this milage. Gearbox and drivetrain work perfectly. Brakes are described as being in good condition. Mechanically, everything works as it should.

Service history

Rejme's car in Linköping serviced the car until 61710km. After that, service was done elsewhere, but not documented in the service book. The current owner has checked that the oil is clean and fine, but it is unclear when it was last changed. In May 2024, the car got a new water pump as the old one leaked. A new battery was also installed. A common fault with the model was that the petrol tank rusted and this has probably been replaced in 2011. Inspected without remarks 2024-05-13.

Equipment and options

Equipped with, among other things, an oil level gauge, unusual for a small 90s car, Phillips cassette radio that works, although the antenna mount on the roof is broken. Engine heater available but no cable. Spare key is missing, but there is a key for ignition and a door key.

Summary

A very economical French small city car with plenty of charm. There are not many Renault 5's left today, especially not in such good used condition!
