Villagatan2
Avesta
Basic information and History
Domestically sold and rare luxury wagon that stands out in the crowd of American wagons of the same style. 1973 Opel Diplomat B in bright white matched against a black vinyl roof and a blue plush and vinyl interior. The icing on the cake is the time-correct and great looking caravan that comes with the car. A combination that attracts both looks and questions from people! There are just under fifteen V8 Diplomats in the country, which makes it a more rare car. The car comes in good used condition and has had no more than 7 owners over the years, of which information shows that 4 of these were actual users. During a period of 8 years, the car was taken down for renovation. According to the current owner, the mileage is approx. 220,000 km.

  • Impressive Opel Diplomat with 5.4-liter V8
  • Accompanying caravan, Tabbert Comtesse 530TN from 1977
  • Charming setup that offers many thumbs up along journeys

Equipped with a 5.4-liter V8 from GM that produces approx. 230hp and is connected to a TH400 3-speed automatic and drive takes place on the rear wheels. Performance figures show that 0-100km/h is achieved in approx. 8.5 seconds. Fast for its time considering the car's size. Top speed should be somewhere around 200km/h, for those who dare!

Equipment and Options

The trailer that comes with the crew is a very nice German Tabbert Comtesse 530TN of model year 1977. The trailer comes with a bogie axle and a set of aluminum rims. The trailer is moisture-free and winterized and has also been gas tested. There is also waterborne heating powered by an Alde boiler. The boiler is powered by both electricity and gas. In the wagon we find, among other things, a three-burner gas stove and a refrigerator. Refrigerators are powered by gas and electricity. Battery charger is installed and charges the trolley's battery when shore power is switched on.

The wagon also comes with an Isabella awning which is an original accessory. The tent is complete. There is also an awning and window awnings if preferred. The original rims with hubcaps and nice tires are included. Gas detectors have been installed as well as a TV antenna with amplifier. The owner also has some good-to-have items that come with the cart.

The wagon is in original condition and is described as having complete and clean upholstery and rolling steadily behind the elegant tow truck. A ball for a bicycle rack has been installed if you wish to take your two-wheeler with you on holiday. The owner says that the cart is, in short, very pleasant and has received many compliments at campsites. The car inspection has recognized the good condition of the carriage during the inspection and confirmed this with a cute little sticker. The only remark the owner has on the cart is that it could be changed to a modern refrigerator that cools a little better and is more energy efficient.

Condition

This Opel Diplomat comes in a good used condition, free from rust, and has stood up well after restoration. The car was parked for 8 years and then the engine, paint and more were renovated. The only modification carried out is the set of AC Schnitzer rims fitted. Original rims from Ronal are of course included. According to the owner, there are no dents, worse scratches or door hinges on the body. There is, of course, age wear, but nothing that stands out.
During documentation of the vehicle, we have noted, among other things, small damage in the lower corner of the left front door, some stone chips and small marks in the front, various small scratches, but nothing conspicuously bad, moldings with scratches and marks and some small defects on the vinyl roof. Overall, however, a nice car that has managed well through the years that have passed and the journeys that have been made! The original windows have age wear. The rims have a couple of marks on them. The tires mounted have approx. 5mm pattern depth left.

The condition of the interior is good used condition with various wear and sun fading. Driver seat and passenger seat have tears and some small holes in them. Door sides have age wear but look OK. Wooden details in the cabin have held up well. Steering wheel, buttons and controls are in good condition. The inner ceiling sits where it should and has no damage, however discoloration. A more modern stereo has been installed.

Engine is described by the owner as being in good condition. It has received a new camshaft, new generator, carburettor and fuel pump. The gearbox and drivetrain are described as being in good condition as well. Brakes have received new lines and the rest has been refurbished.

Service history

The car has been serviced with oil and filter as well as brakes as previously mentioned.

Summary

An unusual car and an even more unusual setup with the period correct caravan attached! This is the equipment for those who want to ride comfortably on long trips and stand out on the campsite!
