1997 Ford Mustang Saleen S-281 Cobra
Basic information and History
As the car is being sold from an estate, therefore the information is sparse compared to our other auctions and may also differ. It is possible that not all questions asked can be answered by the estate. At the time of documentation, the car was in rust-free, good working condition with a few blemishes. The car was test driven by us during the documentation and runs as it should in the engine and drivetrain. Previous owner of the car serviced the car regularly at his workshop. The car has previously been registered in Denmark.
- 1 of 128 genuine Saleen S281 Cobras
- Built by Saleen INC with the Cobra SVT as the base car
- Focus on better road holding
Equipped with Ford's all-aluminium 4.6L 32-valve DOHC V8 of approx. 310hp/410nm mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
This Saleen uses the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra as a base car and has focused on upgraded handling. Better road holding has been achieved with the help of, among other things, better aerodynamics, upgraded chassis consisting of a lighter and stronger front bridge, adjustable camber plates from Maximum Motorsports and a real differential. For a better driving experience, they have also installed Saleen Shortshift and a better clutch that can withstand more inspiring driving.
Equipment and Options
Condition
The leather interior has typical dry wear from the years but has not cracked or broken. Door panels are in good condition. Steering wheel slightly worn. The top of the skirts at the entrance has rubbed paint. Buttons and controls in good condition. Otherwise, nice interior that has held up well through all the years.
Mechanically, we unfortunately know little about the car other than that the owner serviced it every year at his mechanical workshop. During the test drive, the car feels good to drive.
