Basic information and history
The first Cadillac Coupe De Ville was shown in 1949 during General Motors' Motorama era. The car was based on a Cadillac Sixty's chassis with various updates and modifications. The car was one of the first coupés in the world to lack door pillars. As always with General Motors, Cadillac was the most well-equipped of the group, compared to e.g. Buick and Oldsmobile. De Ville was built right up until 2005 and went through 8 generations. This 1965 Cadillac De Ville convertible of the third generation received, compared to previous models, sharper body edges and standing lamps. The car was designed by Bill Mitchell and built in GM's Detroit factory. The third generation De Ville was produced between 1965 to 1970. This example was imported from the States in 2003 and has since had 7 owners. The current owner has had the car since 2018. Under the hood lurks a 7-liter V8 of approx. 340hp/650nm. Enough torque to turn the clock back an hour at red lights. Shifts are handled by a 3-speed automatic. The car's mileage is unknown and the condition is described as used with age wear.
Condition
The car has age wear and plenty of patina, but runs as it should. The car comes with a good amount of equipment for its year of manufacture, including electric lifts and retrofitted air suspension. The engine is refurbished and the gearbox works well. Service has been performed by the current owner. Drums are also described as being in good condition. Backs in front are new.
