Basic information and history
With the C215, Mercedes-Benz brought the coupé idea back to its roots: a pillarless two-door built on the S-Class platform, but with its own body and a technical arsenal that few competitors could match. The CL 55 AMG houses the supercharged M113 K, a 5.4-litre V8 with a Lysholm supercharger, around 500 horsepower and torque in the 700 Nm class delivered via the five-speed Speedshift automatic. Added to this is Active Body Control, the hydraulic suspension system that actively counteracts roll and pitch and which, even today, gives the car a driving character that no conventional air suspension quite manages to replicate.
This example is a 2004 CL 55 AMG imported from Germany and thus not originally sold in Sweden. The odometer reading is 150,000 km and the seller states that this can be guaranteed. The car has had a total of 14 owners, of which the current owner has had it for nearly twelve years. During this time the car has only been used in the summer months and kept garaged over winter, with a modest mileage accumulated during the ownership period.
The vehicle is stated to be in original condition, there are no loans on the car and VAT is not deductible. The seller is selling as a private individual.
Equipment and options
The car is stated to be, in practice, fully equipped. The following is known:
- Active Body Control (ABC)
- Massage function in the front seats
- Ventilated seats
- Leather upholstery
- Navigation system
- Telephone in the centre console
- Keyless Go
- Bose sound system
The seller states that the exact package designations from the model year are not known, so the list above should be seen as a compilation of what has been confirmed on the car. No modifications are listed, and the vehicle is presented in original condition. The Keyless Go key function needs to be reprogrammed at Mercedes-Benz.
Condition
Exterior: The body is described as being in excellent condition, while the paint is assessed to be in good condition. The glass is also stated to be in good condition. The soft-close function on the left door has stopped working, likely due to a broken membrane, according to the seller.
Interior: The cabin as a whole is stated to be in good condition, and both the instrument panel and headliner are described as being in excellent condition. The sound and media system works, as do the trip odometer, seat belts and other electronics. The instrument panel is free of warning lights.
Tyres and wheels: Stated to be in good condition.
Mechanics and function: The engine, transmission and brakes are all described as being in excellent condition. The car starts and runs without issue, shifts flawlessly and is drivable as it stands. The climate control works, but the seller notes that the actual temperature does not match what is shown on the display, and estimates that a sensor or similar likely needs to be replaced. Lowering the set temperature causes the cooling to start as it should. The vehicle has passed inspection.
The seller describes the car as a wolf in sheep's clothing, with strong performance and good road holding.
Service history
The vehicle is stated to be fully serviced. Service history is documented up to 2015. After that, the car has been maintained by an acquaintance of the seller who worked as a Mercedes mechanic for many years, but for this work there is no documentation or receipts. The seller emphasises that mileage during this period has been limited. The most recent inspection was carried out on 2025-09-30.
Summary
A CL 55 AMG in original condition, imported from Germany, with 150,000 km on the odometer and twelve years in the same ownership. The car has been used in summer and kept garaged during winters, and the drivetrain with the supercharged M113 K and the automatic transmission is described as being in excellent condition. The equipment level is high, including ABC, ventilated and massaging seats, navigation and a Bose sound system.
Prospective buyers should note that service documentation ends in 2015, that Keyless Go needs to be reprogrammed at an authorised workshop, and that the climate control's temperature display deviates from the actual temperature. Otherwise, the car is presented as roadworthy and inspected. A well-known and increasingly sought-after chapter in AMG history, now up for sale on Bidders Highway.
