Basic information and history

The Alfa Romeo 156 GTA is a true icon of sporty family cars – a unique blend of Italian passion, design and performance that will not leave any car enthusiast indifferent. The 156 GTA was launched in 2002 as a “coup de grâce” from Alfa Romeo to the competition from Germany. It stands out with its soulful character, exotic feel and design signed by Walter de Silva. Under the hood, the famous 3.2-liter Busso V6 engine pulses, hand-assembled in Maserati’s facilities in Modena and legendary among enthusiasts for its smooth sound and willingness to rev.

This specific example is an exceptionally fine and professionally restored Alfa Romeo 156 GTA, currently up for auction on Bidders Highway. The car was sold new in Sweden, imported to Finland in 2020 and has had two owners in Finland since then (current owner since February 2022). The odometer reading is 145,700 km , which can be guaranteed.

This is not just any 156 GTA – the car has undergone a complete, documented restoration to near-new condition ( see attached photos from the process ). Most of the car has been repainted (except for the roof, engine compartment and the underside of the bonnet which are in original condition) and the bodywork has been dismantled, blasted and surface treated, with all wear parts and mechanical components professionally refurbished or replaced. The total cost succeeds 10.500 euro. The result is a GTA that looks, feels and drives like new in every way.

This car is also one of the very few GTA Sportwagons with a manual transmission produced. The 156 GTA – especially in this condition – is already a sought-after collector's car and will only increase in value over time.

Equipment and options

  • Sunroof
  • Cruise control
  • Xenon headlights
  • Two-tone interior

In addition to the original equipment, the car has been extensively professionally restored . Chassis components have been dismantled, blasted and painted. All bushings, joints, brakes, shock absorbers, springs etc. have been restored or replaced with new parts. Clear glass headlights and emblems have been replaced with new ones. New drive shaft joints, clutch, thrust bearings, main gasket for the gearbox and all fluids and filters have been replaced. The rims are in new condition, the tires have only been driven approx. 350 km. The windshield is brand new.

Condition

Body & exterior condition: The paint is almost perfect, freshly polished and protected with ceramic coating. There are two small, almost invisible dents on the roof, otherwise very few complaints according to the Classic Data report and attached photos. Only the roof, engine compartment and underside of the hood are in the original color - the rest of the car has been professionally repainted. The emblems have been replaced with new ones. The headlights as well. The aluminum handles have minor scratches (probably from rings).

Glass: Overall condition is very good – windshield is brand new, but the rear window does have some minor wiper scratches.

Interior: The interior is in near mint condition, with the exception of the lower gray part of the driver's seat (somewhat faded), and minor scratches on the back seat. Pictures of everything are attached. The headliner has a slight superficial scratch (see picture). The steering wheel, controls and buttons are like new.

Tires & rims: Installed tires have only been driven 350 km and are in new condition. Rims without any complaints.

Mechanics & function: Engine and gearbox are in perfect condition and have recently undergone a major restoration. All driveshafts, brakes, clutch, thrust bearings, gaskets, springs, shock absorbers, etc. have been replaced or renovated. All fluids and filters have been replaced. Brakes have only been driven 350 km since renovation.

Service history

The car has been completely professionally restored by the current owner during the period 2022–2024. Everything has been replaced or restored to or above the manufacturer's requirements. All filters, fluids, gaskets, clutch, brakes, joints, etc. are new. The service book is complete - however, the majority of the history now consists of the extensive documentation of the renovation work, classification protocols and receipts ( see attached excel sheet with purchase list ). This can be considered a "fresh start" in terms of condition and maintenance. Last inspected with a passing result in July 2025.

I see the car hasnt been driven much since restoration last year, has it recently been test driven to see if everything still works? Any known (mechanical) issues at all?

  • FromiSellerSeptember 08, 2025 22:58

The car has indeed been driven a little since the restoration last year, just enough to make sure everything works properly. In the past month I’ve driven about 100 km, both on highway and in the city — it runs perfectly, no issues. There are no known mechanical issues at all – the restoration was done to a very high standard, and the car received an excellent condition rating. I personally think it doesn’t make sense to put unnecessary mileage on it.
