Basic information and history
The Chevrolet Corvette of the third generation, C3, was produced between 1968 and 1982 and, with its long production run, is one of the most well-known American sports cars. The 1980 model year brought a clear update to the body, with new integrated bumpers front and rear made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic, a new front spoiler and a spoiler integrated into the rear. The changes improved aerodynamics, while weight was reduced by just over 100 kilos through thinner glass and lighter frame components, among other things. The standard engine was the 5.7-litre small-block V8 L48, with the stronger L82 available as an option. A period-typical detail is the speedometer, which this year was graded to a maximum of 85 mph in accordance with US federal requirements.
This example is imported from the USA and has therefore not previously been sold in Sweden. The car has had 2 owners in total. The odometer reading is 4,000 kilometres, a figure the seller cannot guarantee. The car is sold by a private individual, there are no loans on the vehicle and no deductible VAT.
Equipment and options
- Larger exhaust system
- Modern stereo
- Battery master switch
- Climate control
- Power windows
The car is otherwise stated to be in original condition. The modifications made are a larger exhaust system, which according to the seller gives the proper V8 sound, and a modern stereo. In addition, a master switch has been fitted to the battery, which makes extended lay-ups easier.
Condition
Body and exterior: The body is described by the seller as being in excellent condition. The paint, however, has some remarks in the form of a few parking marks as well as some cracks and areas of paint loss. The glass is in good condition.
Interior: The interior is assessed to be in good condition, while both the dashboard and headliner are stated to be in excellent condition. The dashboard is free of warning lights and all seat belts function. The trip odometer has stopped and does not work. The left power window does not work; otherwise the electronics function. The climate control and the audio/media system work.
Tyres and wheels: Tyres and wheels are, according to the seller, in good condition.
Mechanics and function: The engine is described as being in excellent condition and starts and runs faultlessly. The gearbox is assessed to be in good condition and shifts faultlessly, and the clutch works. The brakes are stated to be in excellent condition. The seller mentions that the car needs a bit of choke/starting fluid if it has been standing for a few days, and that it should idle for a minute or two before driving off. The car is drivable as it stands and has passed inspection, most recently carried out in 2025.
Service history
According to the seller, the car is fully serviced. However, receipts or other documentation substantiating the service history are not available.
