Basic information and history
Harley-Davidson Super Glide is one of the brand's longest-running model lines and is considered the original factory custom, with roots dating back to the FX from 1971. The 1999 model year is of particular interest, as the Dyna family received the new Twin Cam 88 engine that year, an air-cooled 45-degree V-twin that replaced the earlier Evolution engine. At the same time, the Super Glide retained its stripped-down character with a slim front fork, simple instrumentation and a frame with a rubber-mounted engine, making it one of the more easy-going and versatile heavyweight cruisers in the lineup.
This example was sold new in Sweden and has covered 90,000 kilometres, a mileage the seller states can be guaranteed. The motorcycle has had five owners in total. The current owner has ridden approximately 500 to 600 kilometres since purchase. The vehicle is sold by a private individual, without deductible VAT and without any loans.
The motorcycle is not in original condition, but the original parts for the modified subframe are included in the sale.
Equipment and options
- Vance & Hines exhaust system
- Mikuni carburettor
- 1584 cc kit according to the previous owner
- Modified subframe with a different rear fender
- Mini indicators
- Original fender and original indicators included
The modifications follow a well-known path for the Dyna platform. The rear end has been rebuilt with a different rear fender in combination with smaller indicators, giving a cleaner look at the back. The original parts have been kept and are included, meaning the motorcycle can be restored to standard specification by a future owner. The drivetrain has been upgraded with a Vance & Hines exhaust system and Mikuni carburettor, and according to the previous owner the engine is also said to be fitted with a 1584 cc kit. This information has been provided second-hand and cannot be substantiated with documentation.
Condition
The paintwork is assessed by the seller to be in good condition, as are the covers and sheet-metal parts. The frame is also stated to be in good condition.
Tyres and rims are described as being in good condition.
Mechanically, the engine is stated to be in good condition, as are the gearbox, final drive, brakes, and suspension and front fork. The motorcycle starts and runs without issue according to the seller, the clutch works and the gearbox shifts flawlessly. All electronics function and the instrument panel is free of warning lights. The motorcycle is ready to ride as it stands and has passed inspection, most recently inspected on 2026-07-21.
Service history
There is no complete documentation substantiating the service history. The current owner states that the motorcycle was serviced this past spring under their own supervision, and that receipts exist for purchased parts. The previous owner is said to have taken the motorcycle to an authorised Harley-Davidson workshop, but neither receipts nor service history from that period have been preserved.
A prospective buyer should therefore base their assessment on the motorcycle's technical condition and inspection status rather than on documented history.
Summary
A Swedish-sold Harley-Davidson Super Glide, model year 1999, with a guaranteed mileage of 90,000 kilometres and five owners. The motorcycle is ready to ride, has passed inspection, and is consistently described as being in good condition, both exteriorly and mechanically.
The modifications in the form of a Vance & Hines exhaust system, Mikuni carburettor and rebuilt rear end give the motorcycle a distinct character of its own, while the original rear-end parts are included for anyone wishing to restore the original look. The service history is limited and undocumented, which should be factored into the assessment.
An interesting object for anyone seeking a Twin Cam Dyna with a lightly custom-styled look and the possibility of restoration.
