Basic Information and History
The 1993 Chevrolet Caprice is an icon from a bygone era of big American cars – a timeless blend of comfort, presence, and classic V8 charm. Once a natural choice as a police car, taxi, or long-distance cruiser across the U.S., the Caprice earned its reputation for durability and reliability. Now on Bidders Highway, you have the chance to acquire one of these true American classics, complete with rare factory details!
This particular example was imported directly from the United States and is equipped with factory-installed wood trim as well as the optional 5.7-liter V8 engine – a highly sought-after choice among enthusiasts. According to the seller, the car had just one owner in the U.S. before being taken over for restoration and recommissioning in Sweden, following a longer period of inactivity from 2016.
The odometer currently shows 220,320 km, verified through Carfax (with mileage converted to kilometers). Service history and the original owner’s manual are included. In total, the car has had 8 users. Two complete sets of keys, a spare immobilizer, and a box filled with spare parts come with the vehicle – ideal for anyone wishing to continue the restoration or simply keep parts at hand.
Trivia: This is a rare Caprice version with complete factory details, including original wood trim (note: the driver’s door was repaired and the trim film does not fully match). The odometer reading is well documented. A unique opportunity for anyone looking for something out of the ordinary!

Condition
Body and Exterior:
The car shows several small paint defects, stone chips, and a scratch on the front bumper. The wood trim film has scratches, and there is a small dent on the right side of the hood. Color variation is visible on the left front fender. Rust is present behind the grille (some through corrosion), on the rear wheel arches (“crunchy” through the paint), and in smaller areas under the trunk lid. The driver’s door has been repaired (trim mismatch), and welding work has been carried out on the B-pillar. The windows show stone chips, and the windshield has partial delamination. Chrome on the grille and badges is sun-faded, but the side window trims remain in good condition.
Interior:
The interior is largely original but shows multiple cigarette/ash burns on the upholstery, and some button text is faded. The cargo area fabric is damaged, and the headliner has dropped above the cargo section and driver’s sun visor. The steering wheel is in good condition, and the indicator/wiper stalk has been replaced. The headlight switch inscription is faded. A crack is visible on the dashboard near the windshield vent.
Wheels and Tires:
Four brand-new tires fitted in June 2025. Excellent tread depth.
Mechanics and Function:
Mechanically, the car shows no oil leaks, but the engine runs unevenly at warm idle. Brake pads were replaced in 2024, though the car pulls slightly to the left under braking. Transmission fluid and filter were replaced in 2025, though gear changes can feel rough when cold.
Electrical system issues include: non-functioning A/C, rear left power window, cruise control, rear wiper, cigarette lighter, and radio (intermittent connection). The right speaker still has issues despite upgrades. Oil level sensor is defective, though a replacement unit is included.
Service History
- Engine service (oil and filter) completed in August 2024
- Transmission fluid and filter replaced June 2025 (including rear axle oil and new radiator)
- Brake pads replaced in 2024
- Documentation available from both current and previous owners (receipts and service records included)
- Additional history verified via Carfax and U.S. records
The car passed Swedish inspection on 2024-12-16 and is valid until 2026-12-31 – without remarks.
