Basic information and history
Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL (internal code W140) is considered to be peak Mercedes and a milestone for the S-Class. The 1992 model of the Mercedes 600 SEL marked the debut of the legendary W140 series with its powerful V12 engine – an engineering feat and the most lavish luxury car build from Mercedes in modern times. The W140 has been called "the world's best S-Class" by both the press and enthusiasts and was uncompromisingly equipped with all the technology and comfort a manufacturer could boast of in the early 90s. With its focus on comfort and quality, it quickly became a favorite among diplomats and statesmen around the world.
The example now offered is Swedish-sold and was delivered new in Gothenburg. The current odometer reading is 139,000 km , which is remarkably low for the model. The car has had seven users including companies, and has always been handled with great respect for its status and characteristics. Interesting details about this car include that it confirms everything you have heard about the W140 – the comfort is of a class that few modern cars can match, and a long journey in this particular 600 SEL is an experience beyond the ordinary.
Fun fact: The W140 has won numerous tests as the best S-Class of all time. It is an obvious choice for anyone who wants to experience Mercedes' genuine engineering culture.

Condition
Body and exterior: The paint is generally in good condition with some minor marks and small scratches (see pictures for details). The chrome details, moldings and emblems are nice and in surprisingly good condition for the age. The windows are intact, however the windshield is "slightly blasted" and this can be seen in strong lighting.
Interior: The car has a very well-maintained interior where both the upholstery and the headliner are intact and clean . The back seat is barely used. There are a few minor details; for example, clips that have come loose, and a broken button for the original stereo. The steering wheel, controls and buttons are in good condition, apart from some pixel damage on the temperature control (fully readable). The left rear headrest can only be folded from the back seat.
Tires and rims: Fully usable summer tires mounted on original rims.
Mechanics and function: The engine runs nice and smoothly, which is in keeping with the car's low mileage. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and smoothly .
There are some functions that need attention: the soft-close function on the doors works irregularly, and the AC does not hold refrigerant for very long. During troubleshooting, no tracer was found in the engine compartment or around the compressor, and further troubleshooting is necessary. The rear hydraulic level control has recently been renovated with replacement of seals and service.
Service history
Service book is available and is completed according to the manufacturer's intervals, although not all service was performed at an authorized Mercedes workshop. Some service records and receipts from previous owners are included, but not a complete documentation of every work.
Last service was performed in spring 2024 at Mercedes-Benz workshop, where rear hydraulic level control was repaired (repair of leak in left wheel arch), along with engine oil and filter change. Brakes have not been changed under current owner.
The last inspection was carried out with a passing result on 2025-05-31 .
