Basic information and history

The BMW 635CSi of the E24 generation is an icon among the GT coupes of the 80s. The 1984 model year belongs to the updated series that was based on the E28 architecture, with improved chassis geometry, brakes and Bosch Motronic-controlled M30 inline six. The combination of the characteristic sharknose, long wheelbase and a powerful six has made the 635CSi a sought-after classic to both own and drive.

The current example is a BMW 635CSi from 1984 that was imported from Germany and came to Sweden in 1998. The current odometer reading is 319,020 km. The car was originally white and has probably been repainted during its time in Germany since the Swedish Transport Agency has registered it as red. The seller has since had the entire car repainted in conjunction with replacing the fenders and rust repairs. The equipment includes, among other things, electric windows, electric mirrors, AC, leather-covered Recaro seats and green-tinted windows. BBS split-style rims have been added later, as well as a discreet silver stripe.

Modifications and improvements: The car has 16-inch BBS split rims and a front strut brace, both front fenders have been replaced. Almost all moldings and chrome details have been replaced with new ones. Rust around the taillights has been repaired and the left wheel arch towards the cabin has been sealed. The front speakers are not original and a custom solution has been made in connection with the refurbishment when original parts were not available. The car is slightly lowered.

Condition

Body and exterior: The paint is described as good with no stone chips or paint chips. There are a few small dents. The painted front bumper section is in need of repainting or should be replaced. The car has previously been completely repainted after panel replacements. The seller states that most of the previously noted rust has been addressed at the workshop. The chrome, moldings and emblems are in top condition and almost everything is new. Three of the four headlight lenses are new. The windshield has a stone chip on the passenger side, without any remarks during inspection according to the seller. The doors are somewhat difficult to close, according to the seller.

Interior: The interior is said to be in good condition and function. The Recaro seats have some dry cracks, but they are difficult to detect. The dashboard has drill marks on the dashboard from a 90s-installed car phone. The headliner is complete but has darkened slightly. The steering wheel, controls and buttons are described as being in good condition with no significant wear. The front speakers have been replaced by aftermarket units.

Tires and rims: Tires are in good condition with lots of tread left. BBS Splits are mounted.

Mechanics and function: The engine runs very smoothly and nicely according to the seller. Gearbox and driveline without any complaints. The condition of the brakes is not known in detail, but no impacts were noted during inspection. The service interval instrument is disconnected and a new circuit board is reportedly not available for purchase. The washer fluid warning light is on, probably a sensor fault in one of the washer fluid reservoirs.

Last service was performed in August 2024 at BMT Motorteknik in Huddinge and it's noted in the service book (not original). The seller has receipts of over 150,000 SEK since 2016. Buyers are encouraged to review existing documents in the photo album documents.
