Audi 80 GL 1976 – Swedish-Sold in Very Fine Usable Condition

Basic Information and History

This is a very well-preserved 1976 Audi 80 GL – a Swedish-sold car with eight previous owners and a total mileage of 156,000 kilometers. This generation of the Audi 80, internal code B1, was the brand’s first model in a segment that would come to be synonymous with quality, driving pleasure, and durability.

Today, this model is rare on Swedish roads, making this particular example especially interesting for both enthusiasts and collectors. The car is now inspection-exempt, making ownership easier going forward.

Equipment and Options

The GL trim level includes better interior materials and a higher level of comfort than the base versions. The car remains in original condition, with no exterior or interior modifications – no spoilers, aftermarket wheels, stereo, or other non-original accessories have been added. The interior features original seats and instrumentation with only minimal wear.

Condition

The body is in very good condition, with a few minor cosmetic flaws. There is a door ding on the right front fender and a rust spot (about 5–8 cm) on the left front fender near the hood; both are documented in photographs. Otherwise, only occasional stone chips and light scratches are present.

The paint is in very good condition, with partial respray on the right front fender and hood. The windows have 1–2 minor stone chips in the windshield. Trim pieces, light lenses, chrome details, and emblems are in excellent condition.

The wheels are damage-free, and the car comes with an additional set of good summer tires – the currently mounted tires have about 2 mm tread depth.

The interior is well preserved, with a minor scratch in the leather on the driver’s seat and some dryness cracks on the dashboard. Door panels, controls, headliner, and door sills are in very fine condition.

Engine, gearbox, and drivetrain function flawlessly. The brakes were recently serviced with new front discs and pads. No engine modifications have been made.

The car has a partially filled service book along with supplementary documentation. Service has been recorded at the following mileage points:

Summary

This is a very well-preserved Audi 80 GL full of character and charm from a bygone automotive era. The car’s condition, combined with its low mileage, makes this a unique opportunity to acquire a classic Audi in driveable and user-friendly condition.

The seller acquired the car due to an interest in European vintage vehicles and describes it as one of the most solid and well-kept examples he has owned. The fact that this model is also rare in Sweden makes it an excellent choice for anyone looking for something both practical and unique.
