Mercedes-Benz 220 D Manual, 60 hp, 1971

Basic Information and History

This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220 D is a well-preserved example with only one registered user since new. The current owner purchased the car new, making this a rare opportunity to acquire a vehicle with fully known ownership history and very limited use. The odometer reads 239,290 km and the mileage is guaranteed.

Since 2007, the car has been driven only around 100 km per year, primarily to classic car events. It was originally sold in Sweden and has not been imported.

Equipment and Options

The car features a 4-speed manual transmission and retains many original components. The original steering wheel cracked during a frost night and was replaced with a non-1971 model, but otherwise no known modifications have been made.

Condition

The body and paintwork are in excellent condition. The car has not been fully repainted, but some touch-ups have been done: the front panels and hood were repainted due to stone chips and scratches, and the trunk lid was restored due to rust around the license plate light.

The interior is in very good condition with no damage to the seats, door panels, headliner, or dashboard. Chrome, trim, badges, and glass are all in good shape. Tires are in good condition with plenty of tread, and the wheels are free from damage.

The engine runs well and has not been modified. The gearbox and drivetrain operate smoothly with no unusual noises, and the braking system has been regularly maintained. All electronics are working as intended.

Service History

The service book is filled out according to the manufacturer’s schedule. The last recorded service was performed in conjunction with the most recent inspection on March 27, 2019, when an oil change and brake check were carried out – with no remarks. Due to its age, the car is now exempt from mandatory vehicle inspections in Sweden. No additional receipts or records are available.

Summary

This is a very well-kept and lightly used example of the Mercedes-Benz 220 D – a model increasingly appreciated by enthusiasts for its durable diesel engine and timeless design. With only one registered user, great overall condition, and mostly original specification, this is a car that will turn heads at classic events and deliver reliable driving for anyone who wants to enjoy a piece of Mercedes-Benz history.
