Volvo Amazon 121 P130 2.0 Manual, 82 hp, 1969

Basic Information and History

This 1969 Volvo Amazon 121 is a well-restored example of the classic two-door P130 series with a manual gearbox. The car was originally sold in Sweden and has had a total of 11 previous owners. The most recent owner carried out a comprehensive restoration during 2014–2015, including updates to the engine and braking system. While the exact extent of the bodywork is not documented, the car is currently in very good and well-maintained condition.

The odometer reads 27,112 km, but this cannot be verified. Although the car does not carry a rare model designation or special edition, it still represents a period-correct and well-preserved example of Volvo’s robust and beloved mid-size car from the 1960s.

Equipment and Options

The Volvo Amazon is known for its simplicity and functionality. This car remains unmodified and has no aftermarket additions – either inside or out. It features the original steering wheel, controls, seats, and interior components, providing an authentic driving experience.

Condition

The body is in very good condition, with no dents, door dings, or rust. The paint was redone about 10 years ago and has recently been polished to a high gloss. There are no issues with the wheels or tires (tread depth approximately 4–5 mm). The windows are in used condition with minor scratches but no cracks.

The chrome elements, including bumpers and emblems, are in fine condition – the front and rear bumpers were replaced during the restoration, although the bumper guards are original.

The interior is well-kept, with minor flaws such as dry cracks in the dashboard, a small hole in the driver’s seat cushion, sun-faded rear parcel shelf, and slight discoloration of the headliner. Door panels and entry sills show normal wear for the age.

The engine has been rebuilt and repainted, starts easily, and runs quietly and smoothly. Gearbox and drivetrain operate flawlessly without unwanted noises. The braking system – including lines – has been replaced and functions perfectly without vibrations.

Service History

The most recent oil service was performed in spring 2024 by the current owner. The service booklet has not been filled out according to manufacturer intervals, but receipts and documentation from the 2014–2015 restoration are included, covering the engine rebuild and brake replacement.

The car passed its most recent inspection on 2017-07-18 with approved results. It is inspected and road-ready.

Summary

A very well-maintained Volvo Amazon 121 in classic specification with manual transmission and a body in excellent condition. The completed restoration provides a solid mechanical impression, and the car is ready for continued use or as part of an enthusiast’s collection. Ideal for those seeking a genuine classic with well-preserved originality and strong technical condition.
