Basic information and history
This Mercedes-Benz 200 is a classic representative of the W110 series ("Heckflosse") and the final evolution of Mercedes' legendary fin cars.
1968 was the last year of the W110 model, known for its robustness and quality. These cars have always attracted enthusiasts thanks to their period design and world-class engineering.
This car is Swedish-sold and has an exciting provenance – only two users in the same family from new: father (1967–1983), then son (1983–2018). The current owner has had the car since 2018 and has focused on getting it MOT-approved and drivable.
The car has now been MOT-inspected without any complaints (2025-09-03) and is therefore ready for future use and adventures.
Fun fact: The car also comes with an instruction manual for the heater, an original warranty certificate, and a brochure for accessories from 1967.
Equipment and options
- Bacho heater (function unknown)
- Original front seat belts (not roller belts)
- Manual gearbox, 4-speed with floor lever
- New headlights
- Rubber mats (partially brittle, but original)
- Exhaust system replaced (2018)
- Battery replaced (2024)
No major modifications have been made, except for maintenance and periodic improvements to ensure operation and function. The brakes have been refurbished with new calipers and brake servo, new clutch slave cylinder. Newly manufactured headlights have been fitted.
Condition
Body and exterior: The paint is matte but overall in good used condition with some stone chips, rust spots and scratches. The body has rust: right rear door lower edge, small holes in the floor, surface rust on rear fender edges and sills. Holes in the spare wheel wells. The windows are intact (the windshield is slightly worn). The front bumper and grill frame are in almost new condition, other chrome details and moldings in good condition. New headlights. The rubber entry strip on the driver's door is missing.
Interior: The interior is complete and in good working order. Carpets and seats show some sun fading but are intact with the exception of the driver's seat, where the backrest has tears in the fabric. The headliner is complete with minor discoloration. Original rubber mats, partly brittle. All controls and buttons are present, the heating controls are somewhat sluggish. No radio installed. Original front seat belts, not roller belts. The chrome ring for the ventilation side outlet is missing, some dryness on the windshield surround.
Tires and rims: Tires are brand new (fitted in 2018, under 500 km of driving). Rims have surface rust but are undamaged and straight.
Mechanical: The engine starts easily on choke and runs well, the carburetors may need fine-tuning for optimal running and exhaust values. A little raw noise (could be the manifold gasket). The brakes have been serviced (renovated caliper and new servo in 2025) and work very well. The clutch (slave cylinder replaced in 2022) feels flawless, the gearbox is tight and shifts without any noise or clunk.
Service history
- The last major service was performed in 2018 (oil and filter changed), the car has since been driven less than 500 kilometers.
- The exhaust system was replaced in 2018.
- The battery was replaced in 2024.
- The brakes received a major overhaul in 2018, with brake caliper renovation and replacement with a new brake servo in 2025.
- The clutch slave cylinder was replaced in 2022.
- The car was inspected on 2025-09-03 without any complaints and for all future use.
Documentation included: Instruction manual (also for the heater), warranty certificate, accessories brochure from 1967. Some other documentation regarding service and maintenance comes with the car.
Summary
An honest and unusual Mercedes-Benz 200 from 1967, with few users and documented Swedish history.
Here is a genuine Swedish-sold W110, ready for new adventures. It is rare to find these cars in original condition, with a known history and only one family until 2018. Mechanically well maintained with a new exhaust system and battery, and most recently inspected without any complaints for the future.
The car's exterior and interior have signs of use - this is not a show car, but offers a fantastic base for further improvement or as a characterful used enthusiast.
An exciting opportunity for those looking for Mercedes quality, patina and history.
Drive it as is, or give it the final finishing touches and continue to take good care of a piece of Swedish history on four wheels.
