Basic information and history

The 1964 Volvo PV is a timeless icon that helped define the post-war Swedish automotive industry. Its robust construction, classic lines and reliable mechanics have made the model a favorite among enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. This particular example – a 1964 Volvo – has undergone an extensive restoration over 4 years and is presented today in excellent condition, with a newly drilled and rebuilt engine and new interior in its original design.

The current odometer reading is only 470 kilometers after renovation, which means that the car is basically in mint condition mechanically. The number of previous users is uncertain due to re-registration, but according to the seller there are at least three previous owners before the current one.

The seller has owned the car for over 20 years and has taken great care to restore it to its original appearance. This is therefore an excellent opportunity to acquire a piece of Swedish automotive history that is ready for both collection and use. Sold in Sweden and with documented renovation.

The PV has been meticulously restored to original condition. The renovation includes, among other things, replacing four nose fenders, all rubber strips and extensive welding work with replacing the left front floor, repairing both rear floors and the left rear sill. The paintwork is done in the original color with the best possible results. The car is also equipped with new emblems and bumpers in stainless steel, although the front grille has some wear in the chrome (see picture).

Condition

Body and paint: The body is in very good condition and the car has recently been repainted in its original color (2020). Four new front fenders have been installed, all rubber strips have been replaced and rust damage repaired in the best possible way.

Glass and chrome: The windshield is new while the other windows are original from 1964 and may show some scratches. New emblems and bumpers in stainless steel – however, the front grille has some wear in the chrome.

Interior: Brand new interior in original design from VP-Autoparts. New headliner, although not perfectly mounted on the right side by the rear window. The steering wheel is in good condition but has visible cracks (see pictures). Controls and buttons work and are in good condition.

Tires and rims: The car has new tires.

Mechanics and function: The engine is completely rebuilt (0.30 overbore, lead converted head, new camshaft). The brake system is completely rebuilt with new components. The gearbox and driveline have new bearings and seals and a new clutch. However, the rear axle has had water ingress previously and one place on the crown wheel has traces of rust.

Service history

This car has recently undergone an extensive complete renovation including engine, driveline, brakes, paint and interior, which means that the service requirement is minimal for a long time. The last approved inspection was in May 2024 according to the seller. There are no older service records or receipts for the car, but it is well documented by the seller that the car has been fundamentally renovated in recent years.
