Basic information and history

The Saab 92 was Trollhättan's very first passenger car and bore clear traces of the company's aviation engineering heritage. The self-supporting body was designed by Sixten Sason with an aerodynamic shape that gave it drag figures far below the norms of its time, and the front-wheel drive combined with the transverse two-stroke engine of 764 cm³ gave the car handling characteristics that made it a natural favourite in Swedish rally circles. With the 92B, introduced during 1953, several long-awaited improvements arrived: a larger rear window, an opening boot lid with access to the luggage compartment from outside, a relocated fuel tank, and a wider colour range than the original Saab-green shade. The De Luxe specification meant additional equipment and extra chrome details.

This example is a 1954 SAAB 92b De Luxe Sedan that is Swedish-sold and in original condition. The odometer reading is 78,889 km and can be warranted by the seller. The car has had three owners in total.

The current owner bought the car in Sollefteå in October 2001, when it was kept in a heated garage and is described as having been very well maintained. The 200 km journey home to Hoverberg was made in darkness and fog at very moderate speed, which took considerable time. Various documents came with the car, including papers confirming that new upholstery was fitted in the early 1990s, when the car was still registered in the Stockholm area. During the 25 years the seller has owned the car, it has consistently been stored in a cold garage and driven sparingly, as the seller's business required a considerably larger luggage capacity.

The vehicle is sold by a private individual. There is no deductible VAT and no loans on the car.

The car is in original condition and has not been modified. The work carried out has been of a preserving nature, where a car restorer in Svenstavik in southern Jämtland has, in recent years, cared for the car and carried out restoration measures, including a new floor pan as well as replacement of the spare parts that were in need of attention. The upholstery was renewed in the early 1990s.

Body and exterior: The body is described by the seller as being in excellent condition, which should be seen in light of the new floor pan and the restoration work carried out. The paint is reported to be in good condition, as are the windows.

Interior: The interior is assessed to be in excellent condition, with upholstery renewed in the early 1990s. The instrument panel and headliner are both described as being in good condition.

Tyres and rims: Tyres and rims are reported to be in good condition. In addition, four unused studded winter tyres on rims are included.

Mechanics and function: The engine, gearbox and brakes are all described as being in good condition. According to the seller, the engine starts and runs faultlessly, the clutch works and the gearbox shifts without issue. The car is drivable as it stands and has passed inspection, last inspected on 2006-10-11. All exterior lighting works.

Service history

The car does not have a full service history, but there are receipts and documentation supporting the service history. The seller states that there should be receipts for all purchased spare parts from the work carried out by the car restorer in Svenstavik, where among other things a new floor pan was fitted and worn parts replaced. The car also comes with documents from previous owners, including documentation regarding the upholstery acquired in the early 1990s. An owner's manual and a copied service manual for Saab 92 are included in a binder.
