Basic Information and History
The 1959 Jaguar XK 150 is one of the true classics from the golden era of sports cars — a model that embodies both British engineering and genuine driving pleasure. The XK 150 was the final model in the XK series and quickly became an icon on both road and track, renowned for its elegant lines, performance, and comfort.
The example now offered for sale has a particularly fascinating history. It was originally delivered in November 1959 by Paul Felton British Cars in California to airline captain Stephen R. Armstrong in Oakland, Northern California — who remained the car’s sole owner in the U.S. until 1990. The car was then shipped to Sweden in parts, packed in crates, and purchased by its current owner, who completed the restoration that had already been initiated. It was registered in Sweden in 1991.
Since then, it has had the same Swedish owner for 32 years and has been used very sparingly, though occasionally driven to keep the mechanicals in working order. It has never required any major restoration since — only ongoing maintenance. The car was awarded “People’s Choice” at British Car Week in Hjo in 2016, a testament to its high aesthetic and historical value.

Modifications and Restoration
This XK 150 underwent a full restoration in the early 1990s. The body was removed from the frame in 1992 and repainted in its original color — an older but still very presentable finish that speaks to the quality of the work. The car remains largely in original specification and is exceptionally well preserved.
Condition
Body and Exterior: Very good condition with no major damage. Minor blemishes in the paint (see photos). Chrome, emblems, and trim are in fine condition. A small crack is present in the lower right corner of the windshield.
Paint: Repainted in the original color during the 1990s restoration. Still shows good gloss and overall quality.
Interior: Well-preserved and very fine original leather upholstery with matching carpets, door panels, and headliner. All switches and controls are original.
Instruments: tachometer is non-functional,It has a minor wire issue between the camshaft and the counter. All other gauges work as intended.
Wheels and Tires: Beautiful chrome wire wheels with older tires that are in good condition and have solid tread depth.
Mechanical: The matching-numbers engine is in good condition. It is important to use the electric manual choke when cold-starting, as the engine can be difficult to start otherwise. Once warm, it runs smoothly. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and responds well to kick-down. Some chassis noises are audible over uneven surfaces.
Service History
The car has a well-documented service history in Sweden and has been maintained with great care. The most recent service was carried out in May 2025. The most recent technical inspection was passed on 2018-06-05. The speedometer has been non-functional for at least 26 years, so the exact mileage is unknown — but according to the owner, the car has only been driven short distances over the years.
Summary
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a fully restored 1959 Jaguar XK 150 with an outstanding history: only two owners since new — one in the U.S. and one in Sweden — and complete documentation from purchase and warranty to long-term ownership. With matching numbers, original interior, well-preserved paint, and award-winning show history, this is a standout example.
For the collector or enthusiast who values authenticity, provenance, and driving enjoyment, this is a car with both soul and potential — ready for new adventures or to grace any fine garage.
