Oktoberfest - Top 5 sold cars from Germany
When the leaves turn yellow and Oktoberfest takes over Munich, it's not just beer culture that's celebrated - but also the German tradition of craftsmanship and quality. In the automotive world, it's visible in every body from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and the Rhineland. At Bidders Highway, we've had our own little Autofest during the year. Germany is behind some of the most legendary machines that have rolled through our auctions - cars that offer as much character as a well-brewed Weissbier.Prost to performance – German masterpieces on Bidders Highway
Many consider Germany to be the heart of the automotive world – a country where engineering is as sacred as hops in beer. From Stuttgart, where Porsche and Mercedes-Benz were born, to Ingolstadt, where Audi refined its Vorsprung durch Technik, and on to Munich – home to BMW, whose straight-sixes have set the standard for driving pleasure for generations. Here, innovation, racing and craftsmanship have always gone hand in hand. It is a country where the Autobahn is as obvious as the Alpine peaks in the south, and where cars are not just transportation – they are culture, identity and pride.
This time, our sales department, in no particular order, has had to pick out their favorites when it comes to German cars sold on our marketplace.
Mercedes 1000 SEL Trasco – luxury at export level
What do you get when you mix German luxury with armored opulence? A Mercedes 1000 SEL Trasco, of course. This car was built for statesmen, superstars, and those who thought a regular S-Class was too modest. A reminder that German engineering isn’t just about performance – it’s also about traveling first class.
Porsche 928 GTS – the future from the past
If Oktoberfest is all about tradition, then the Porsche 928 GTS is anything but predictable. In the 90s, it was Porsche’s vision of the future: V8 up front, rear-wheel drive and lines that looked designed for the next century. Our 928 GTS showed why enthusiasts still call it “the best GT Porsche has ever built.”
Mercedes G230 – Steyr-Puch-classic with attitude
Functional design at its best! It's no wonder the design of the G-Class was left unchanged for so long. Few vehicles exude as much rugged elegance as the Mercedes G230 built by Steyr-Puch. This automatic-geared classic combines military history with timeless charm – a symbol of German precision, built to last longer than an October evening in Munich.
BMW M5 E34 – the last analog M-car
This M5 we sold was something special. Hand-built, six-cylinder and without a single unnecessary filter between the driver and the road. Strong, authentic and with a taste of the best engineering of the 90s. An M5 that reminds us why the Germans still lead the league when it comes to the noble art of the sports sedan.
Audi R8 – supersport in German
The Audi R8 changed the landscape of sports cars when it was launched – supercar performance in a well-made and luxurious package that can be used every day. Here you are offered not only an iconic and exclusive car, but also a rare and enormously luxurious build: an Audi R8 with twin-turbo conversion, mapped by the renowned Dahlbäck Racing and with a documented output of 650 Horsepower!
Honorable mentions – the extra foam on top
Picking the top 5 was a much harder task than we could have imagined, so we had to give these cars a little extra space on the list.
The first is a technical monster – a 911 that RUF has transformed into something even sharper, with enough turbo power to make an Oktoberfest tent flutter. The second is the exact opposite: an icon of freedom and adventure, built to enjoy the journey rather than the destination. Together, they remind us that German engineering can be both insanely fast and wonderfully relaxed.
2001 Porsche 911 Turbo RUF RT12 - Performance beast with 700 hp
This is no ordinary Porsche 996 Turbo, but a true beast with a complete conversion to RUF RT12 specification. This makes it a rare powerhouse that not only excels on the road with its incredible performance and driveability, but also delivers exceptional results on the track. With precision and technology from one of the world's most respected Porsche tuners, this car has been transformed into something extraordinary. This is not just a car for the average enthusiast - it is a machine for those seeking the very best in both comfort and raw power. The RT12 conversion involves a thorough improvement to both the engine, chassis and aerodynamics, resulting in an experience that is hard to match.
1998 Volkswagen T2 Camper - Boundless charm on four wheels
Volkswagen buses never seem to go out of style, so if you're going camping in style, this is the one for you. You'll get the most attention this summer whether you're going to the beach or taking the family on a trip. A real joy spreader is what this bus is, just type in the nearest beach on your GPS and head out on an adventure. Biarritz next!
Cheers to German perfection!
From precision and performance to luxury and long-lasting quality – German car culture is something to celebrate all year round. At Bidders Highway we continue to highlight cars built with passion and the engineering dream in focus. So raise your glass and rev your engine – it’s Oktoberfest for real, because autumn is a really good time of year to sell your enthusiast vehicle, contrary to what many people think.
