The Volvo 740 GL was a popular car model produced by Volvo between 1984 and 1992. It was part of Volvo's 700 series, which was known for its build quality, safety considerations and solid performance. The 740 GL was a mid-size sedan that gained a reputation for its practicality, reliability and comfortable ride. The recipe for reliability consisted of a self-supporting body and straight engine. Production continued until autumn 92 when the model was replaced by the Volvo 940.

This Volvo 740 GL from 1990 with a fine history and few owners. The car was picked up on 25 May 1990 from Rejmes in Norrköping by the first owner, Einar. Einar enjoyed the car until 2011 when his bonus daughter had to take over the car due to age. The car was then used by daughter and father for nice Sunday outings during the summer. When the father then passed away, the car was left in a garage. Einar kept meticulous driving records on his eyeball, documentation that accompanied the car until today. There are not many of such a fine example of modern Swedish motoring history left. A fantastic opportunity for a true enthusiast, or why not put away as a museum piece or continue to enjoy?

The car has only driven 145.200 km today and comes with the classic B23 engine of 115hp/180nm connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

More simply equipped with, among other things, a stereo, heated seats, a heated rear window and, as a fun detail, taxi handle on the tailgate. The car has also received additional turn signal indicators mounted on the steering wheel cover. The glove box still has a sticker with starting instructions stuck on!

This jewel comes in fine condition apart from minor remarks from the current owner, including some stone chipping on the windshield, a less attractive paint touch-up on the right rear fender as well as minor scratch marks and normal wear and tear. Chrome and liter are a little gray in tone and bumpers are partially scratched. The car's original rims are in good condition and come with approx. 6mm pattern depth remaining. The paint is somewhat matte as it is red and would be extremely nice with a polish. There is a soft dent on the driver's door which, according to the current owner, should be able to be massaged out.

The interior of the car is in good condition. The fabric is unworn and the door sides have fared fine as far as normal wear from getting in and out. The headliner is fine but has some stains above the driver. Dashboard and panel are in good condition. The cigarette lighter is out of order.

Mechanically, the car is described as being in very good condition. According to the current owner, it feels like new in engine and box. No leaks have been noted. Brakes are also in good condition. Under the hood it is tidy and neat, no leaks have been noted. Underneath, the car is as consistently fine as otherwise. Drive hubs have some surface rust, but otherwise it looks top notch.

The car was last serviced on 2016-05-15 at 142.200 km by OKQ8 Bilverkstad. Previous service records are available plus a lot of other fun documentation from the years. Last inspection/MOT took place on 2023-09-04.
