Summer comes alive on the roads of Skåne

Here, vintage cars, American classics, sports cars, motorcycles, mopeds, and modern enthusiast vehicles come together in a much more relaxed atmosphere than at major events. You arrive whenever you like, park next to something interesting, and stay as long as the weather, the conversation, and the coffee allow. 

We have visited two of the most well-known recurring meet-ups ourselves: the Tuesday gathering at Borgeby Castle and the Wednesday automotive evenings at Tykarpsgrottan.

Monday: Källstorpsgården brings together all vehicle enthusiasts. 

The week can kick off at Källstorpsgården outside Trelleborg, where Monday evenings welcome a wide variety of vehicles. Mopeds, motorcycles, American cars, A-tractors, vintage vehicles, and European enthusiast cars—both new and old—all gather here. 

In 2026, the meet-ups will take place on Mondays from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, running from May 11 to August 24. Refreshments are also available in the farm's barn. 

The "Mackaträffen" in Vollsjö also typically hosts recurring Monday meet-ups during the summer season, primarily during odd-numbered weeks.

Tuesday: Borgeby Castle – one of Skåne’s great classics 

The Tuesday gatherings at Borgeby Castle have become a natural meeting point for car enthusiasts in southwestern Skåne. The historic castle setting, the expansive lawns, and the wide variety of vehicles make the event far more than just an ordinary evening meet-up.

Everything from beautifully restored vintage cars and big American cruisers to sports cars, quirky models, and custom-built vehicles shows up here. The variety is a huge part of the experience—you never quite know what will be parked in the next row.

In 2026, the meet-ups will take place on Tuesdays between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, from May through September. 

The event caters to vintage and enthusiast vehicles, and the barbecue grill remains open throughout the evening. When we visited Borgeby, the turnout was impressive, and the atmosphere was exactly as relaxed as a recurring summer meet-up should be. Cars rolled in throughout the evening while visitors strolled between the rows, discussing restoration projects and discovering new favorites.

Wednesday: Motor Evening at Tykarpsgrottan 

On Wednesdays, the focus of automotive interest shifts north to Tykarpsgrottan, just outside Hässleholm. The site is already a popular destination in its own right, but on summer evenings, the area also fills up with enthusiast vehicles.

Tykarpsgrottan’s barbecue and motoring evenings combine car meets with food, refreshments, and a scenic setting. The result is an event that appeals equally to the dedicated car enthusiast and the family looking for an evening outing.

This year’s gatherings take place almost every Wednesday from May 6 to September 30, starting at 5:00 PM. The organizers recommend checking the schedule before visiting, as the program may vary on certain Wednesdays. 

During our visit, the area was filled with a wonderful mix of vehicles. It is precisely this simple format that makes the Tykarpsgrottan gatherings so enjoyable: arrive in your car, grab a bite from the barbecue, and spend the evening with others who share the same passion.

Thursday: several matches to choose from

On Thursdays, there are several recurring options across Skåne. At Bäckavallen in Spjutstorp, regular automotive meet-ups are held in the early evening, typically between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. 

 Bjärnum Museum also hosts recurring car and motorcycle meets on Thursdays. Cars, motorcycles, and mopeds are welcome there between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM for most of the summer. These gatherings continue through August 2026 as well. 

Söderåsens Wärdshus in Billesholm has also become a regular Thursday destination, where the car meet is combined with food, coffee, and a classic roadside inn atmosphere.

More than just cars 

The beauty of these recurring car meets is their low barrier to entry. No advance registration is required, a flawless paint job isn't necessary, and specific car models are rarely a prerequisite. Many arrive in a car that is still a work-in-progress, a daily driver with enthusiast appeal, or simply come to look and chat. 

Consequently, these gatherings become important social hubs. Spare parts, experiences, and stories are exchanged, while new connections are forged over car hoods and coffee mugs. 

Moreover, when a meet takes place on the same day of the week throughout the summer, a unique sense of community develops. Some visitors drive there every week, while others plan a single evening visit as part of a holiday trip through Skåne.

A whole week of Scanian summer motoring

If you wish, you can essentially fill a large part of the week with car meets: Källstorpsgården on Mondays, Borgeby Castle on Tuesdays, Tykarpsgrottan on Wednesdays, and one of the Thursday gatherings in Spjutstorp, Bjärnum, or Billesholm.

This schedule speaks volumes about the car culture in Skåne. It doesn't just come alive during major exhibitions and motor events—it thrives at country estates, castles, and along country roads, evening after evening throughout the summer.
