2000 Toyota Century

V12JDM
Trosa

Basic information and History

Japan's absolute most luxurious and comfortable luxury car, the Toyota Century from the year 2000. This is the car that gives you an insight into what goes on behind closed curtains among Japan's elite. In addition to a large amount of luxury equipment, well-chosen material and high build quality, the car has Japan's only series-produced V12 engine. The car is very rare outside of Japan and in Sweden this is one of two examples. At the time of writing, there are three Century for sale in Europe. This one comes with unusual equipment such as brown/grey wool interior and rear-view mirrors on the fenders. The paint on the body is unusual and is one of 600 built with this colour. Most cars were ordered with gray wool interior or black leather matched to black bodywork. A total of 9,573 cars were built over 20 years of generation G50.

The car has been privately imported by the current owner directly from the owner in Japan and not via auction. Original registration plate from Japan is present and comes with the car. Owner's manual for the car is available in a digital version translated into English. The odometer currently shows 93500km.

  • Rare luxury car, the second generation Toyota Century
  • Japan's only mass-produced V12
  • One of two Toyota Century in Sweden

Equipped with a silky smooth V12 of 5 liters and approx. 280 hp connected to a four-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Equipment and Options

  • Adjustable chassis via air dampers
  • Electric front and rear seats
  • Hand control for A/C, stereo, navigation and more
  • Aftermarket reversing camera
  • Cruise control

The Century is built to carry around high-ranking officials and a big focus is on comfort and luxury in the back seat. The rear seat is equipped with, among other things, fully electrically controlled seats with massage and heating, mirroring of the front media screen and with hand control to have full control over e.g. A/C and stereo as well as navigation. Navi is still Japanese and therefore does not connect to satellite. Windows are tinted to avoid unnecessary stares from people. Rear doors and tailgate have a soft-close function. However, the soft-close does not work on the left rear door, but the locking mechanism works. In the back seat there is still an OEM factory Walkman with headphones that the car comes with. Front passenger seat can be opened to create a space to stretch the legs. The crocheted pieces that protect the seats are handmade original accessories. This is a selection of luxury equipment the vehicle comes with.

Condition

The condition is described as very good. The car is free of rust and dents or damage. There are various small marks from the years, but nothing conspicuously bad or in need of repair. According to the current owner, there is no information that the car has been renovated. The ones we noted while documenting the vehicle are, among other things, minor scuffs on the front bumper, small chrome lift and a mark on one of the rear view mirrors, a couple of small stone chips and a mark on the edge of the door, a mark on a window and around the front fender. All this is documented in photos and can be seen in the exterior album. The rims have normal wear and tear and have had new Bridgestone tires installed. In the trunk there is a spare wheel on the original rim.

Feel free to look through the pictures to form your own opinion of the condition. Any questions can be asked in the question field, and will be answered by the owner.

The interior of the car is in very good condition. The unusual wool interior is free from damage and chafing. Wooden details are in good condition. Buttons, steering wheel and controls as well. Door sides and steps are free of damage. The fantastic crocheted pieces are in perfect condition. Inner ceiling is in very good condition. Owner has advised that there is a slight color difference in the wool above the driver's side window. This is probably because it got damp when you drove with the window down. All functions in the cabin work as intended.

Engine described by current owner to be in very good condition. The gearbox and drivetrain are silky smooth, just like the engine, and no leaks have been noted. Under the hood, it's clean and tidy, just like the rest of the car. Underneath, it is free from rust and leakage.

Service history

The car was serviced before it left Japan for Sweden. All parts replaced are OEM and not aftermarket. The car got new spark plugs and alternator. All oils in the car were also changed. The car also received a full ceramic coating at the time of arrival. As of today's date, the car is not in need of any service but is completely ready to be enjoyed. Work performed before import is documented and are digitally available in its original language. Last inspection was carried out on 2023-07-18 without any comments.

Summary

A chance for an insight into the Japanese elite and their travels between business meetings. Our auctioneer dared to go so far as to claim that the Toyota Century is better than the S-Class! A bold claim, but this from a man who has driven almost everything between heaven and earth.
