Background & InformationMercedes launched the R129 model in 1989 and manufactured the model until 2001. In 1993 the label was changed to the cars now being called SL before the number designation. The new SL was the first to integrate seat belts in the front seats. The car now got a digital trip meter and could be had by phone with voice control.
