Basic information and history

Domestically sold Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL from 1975 with approx. 322.884 guaranteed kilometers on the odometer. The extended version of the W116 is relatively rare, especially in the version sold in Sweden and this object is an excellent project for a renovation. There is various rust to take care of, but nothing in beams or load-bearing parts. According to information, the car has had 17 owners, however, it is not possible to ascertain owner versus company.

Equipped with 4.5-liter V8 of approx. 225hp/370nm connected to a 3-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive.

Condition

The general condition of the body is described as a good base for a project. There is various rust damage, including on the right front fender, rust around the sunroof and on the left front fender. On the rear fender, right by the chrome fender, there are bubbles in the paint. Also around the molding on the right rear door and at the chrome molding on the right front screen. Under the right wing mirror there are bubbles in the paint. Also below the windshield. The car has been inspected in current condition and beams and load-bearing parts have survived rust, making this a good project. Feel free to look through all the photos to form an idea of ​​the condition of the body. The sunroof and central locking are out of order. The tires fitted are old but with good tread depth.

The interior is in relatively good condition considering the year and mileage. The chairs are undamaged and with wear and tear from years past. The inner ceiling sits where it should but is a bit dirty. The interior carpets are in good condition. Door sides as well. Buttons, steering wheel and controls in OK condition.

Engine and gearbox are described as running well. There seems to be a leak on the last part of the exhaust system, but nothing the inspection had a remark about. The brakes also passed the inspection. Mechanically everything works as it should. Last inspection took place on 10/07/2023.
