Basic information and History

Chrysler New York Sedan from 1961 which was imported to Sweden back in 2004. Since then, according to the register, the car has had 4 users, the current one included. The New Yorker model has a long history at Chrysler, having been produced between 1940 and 1996 and being their flagship model alongside the Imperial. As the flagship in Chrysler's model range, it comes with a high level of equipment, including electric lifts, power steering and brake servo and electrically controlled seats! The car comes in a very nice condition and is ready to be enjoyed again now that spring has properly started in our long country.

Equipped with Chrysler's 413cui Golden Lion (6.8 liter) V8 of 350hp/630nm connected to a 3-speed automatic and rear wheel drive.

Equipment and Options

Well-equipped car with, among other things, electric lifts, steering and brake servo, front seat with electric adjustment and a more modern stereo.

Condition

The general condition of the body is described by the current owner as very good. The car is stainless and the paint is also described as being in very good condition. In documentation, we find only minor wear from use, but no worse scratches, damage or dents on the body. The current owner writes that the car was previously repainted. In 2020, the paint got a seal. Glass panes are in good condition. Chrome, moldings, lens and emblem in very good condition. The rims from Boyd Coddington are free of damage and the tire tread is measured to 8mm.

The interior is also in very good condition. Instrument panel, buttons and controls are all in good condition considering the age. Door sides are in good condition without usual wear. Door sills have minor wear, but nothing abnormal considering the age of the car. Material on seating surfaces in good condition. Inner ceiling in very good condition. There are some minor marks on the vinyl on the left rear passenger seat. There are marks in the chrome on the folding part of the backrest, probably from stepping in and out. A more modern stereo is fitted in the car.

Under the hood it is nice and clean and the condition is described as newly renovated. The gearbox and driveline are also newly renovated. In 2020, the car got disc brakes fitted all around. Mechanically, the car works as intended.

Service history

The car has been serviced by the current owner every autumn and spring since 2019. In the spring of 2024, the car received new oil, brake fluid and lubrication of the front carriage and hinges in the doors and drawer. This work is part of what is serviced every spring and fall. The car is exempt from inspection.

A very nice example for those who like retro-futuristic from the early 60s. At the time, this was a typical glimpse into how futuristic cars of the future would look like, and the car's design stands up very well today.
