1960 Berkeley B95

Ludo2023
Uppsala

Basic Information and History

This is as rare as they come and in some circles a highly sought-after little car. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1959, it is estimated that only around 178 Berkley B95 and B105 were ever produced and this is predicted to be the only example in Sweden. Only 20-30 cars were sold for export and this is one of them, ie. LHD and originally sold new in Germany and later imported to Sweden.

The limited edition combined with the very good condition makes this an attractive item for the right collector.

The Berkley B95 is powered by a 692cc twin cylinder 4 stroke engine normally found in a motorcycle. This may seem a bit on the small side, but with a total weight of only about 400kg, there is documentation of little Berkleys easily flying passed the magic 100mph mark (160km/h).

This is a rare example in great condition with only 427 miles on the odometer!

Equipment and Options

The car is painted white with a red interior. A large wooden steering wheel dominates the cockpit, the wheels are still the original rims with the factory Berkley emblems.

Condition

The exterior of the car is in good condition. Rust-free with no damage to the bodywork. The seller notes a small mark in the paint on the left rear. Chrome, moldings, and emblems are in very good condition.

The interior is complete and fine with no noticeable wear or damage. All lighting and other functions work as they should. We refer to the pictures to highlight the car's good condition.

Mechanically there is not much to comment on apart from a minor oil leak from the engine. This is nothing serious and does not require further action at this time. Mechanically, everything works exactly as it should and the car runs great with its lively little engine.

Service History

The car has undergone regular maintenance but has no service record.
The latest inspection was carried out on 2010-06-17 and the car is now inspection-exempt.

Summary

These little Berkley cars are really quirky and fun. There are several dedicated clubs around the world and the interest is still great in enthusiast circles. This is a great and rare example and probably also the only registered copy in Sweden. With only 20-30 cars ever exported outside of England, the number of left-hand drive cars is few. This is one of them, so if you're a Berkley fan or just as excited about this fun little roadster as we are. Don't miss the chance because it will probably be a while before it comes again. At least in Sweden.
