Basic Information and History

Japan's absolute most luxurious and comfortable luxury car, the Toyota Century from the year 2000. This is the car that gives you a glimpse into what happens behind closed curtains among Japan's elite. In addition to a large amount of luxury equipment, well-chosen material choices and high build quality, the car possesses Japan's only series-produced V12 engine. The car is very unusual outside Japan, and in Sweden this is one of two examples, and they rarely appear on the market.

This example comes with the attractive equipment of half-brown wool interior and fender mirrors. The paint on the body is also unusual and is one of 600 built with this colour. Most cars were ordered with grey interior matched against a black body. A total of 9573 cars were built over 20 years of the G50 generation. The car has been privately imported by the previous owner to Sweden directly from the owner in Japan and not via auction. The owner's manual for the car is available in a digital version translated into English. The trip meter currently reads 148,940 km.

  • Unusual luxury car, second generation Toyota Century
  • Japan's only series-produced V12
  • One of two Century in Sweden. "Correctly" equipped with the sought-after wool interior and fender mirrors

Equipped with a silky-smooth 5-litre V12 with approx. 280hp connected to a four-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Equipment and Options

  • Original air suspension adjustable with retrofitted controller
  • Electrically adjustable front and rear seats
  • Massage seats in the rear
  • Remote control for A/C, stereo, navigation and more
  • Aftermarket reversing camera
  • Cruise control
  • Front paint protection film (bonnet, front, lights, front wings, A-pillars and roof)
The Century is built to transport high-ranking officials, and great focus is placed on comfort and luxury in the rear seat. The rear seat is equipped with, among other things, fully electrically adjustable seats with massage and heating, mirroring of the front seat, and a remote control to have full control over, for example, A/C, stereo and navigation. The navigation is still Japanese and therefore does not connect to satellite. The windows are tinted to avoid unwanted glances from people. The rear doors and boot lid have a soft-close function. However, the soft-close does not work on the left rear door, but the locking mechanism works. In the rear seat, there is still an original Walkman with headphones that the car is delivered with. The front passenger seat can be folded forward to create space to stretch one's legs. The crocheted pieces that protect the seats are handmade original accessories. This is just a small sample of the luxury equipment the vehicle comes with. The car also has an AUX socket to connect, for example, a Bluetooth adapter.

Condition

The condition is described as very good. There are various small marks from the years, but nothing eye-catchingly bad or in need of repair. According to the current owner, there is no information that the car has been restored. What we noted during documentation of the vehicle includes minor scuffs on the front bumper, a small mark on one of the side mirrors with the chrome slightly lifted, a mark near the door edge, a small stone chip on the windscreen (not cracked), and around the front wing. All of this is documented in photos and can be seen in the exterior album. The wheels have normal wear from use and had new tyres fitted in 2025. In the boot there is a spare wheel on an original rim. Please look through the pictures to form your own opinion of the condition. The car also received professional paint protection film at the front after arriving in Sweden.

The interior of the car is in very fine condition. The unusual wool interior is free from damage and wear. Wood trim is in fine condition. Buttons, steering wheel and controls likewise. Door panels and sills are free from damage. The fantastic crocheted pieces are in completely fine condition. The headliner is in very fine condition. There is a slight colour difference in the wool above the driver's side window. All functions in the cabin work as intended. The handle for the rear seat is broken, but a replacement handle is included.

The engine is described by the current owner as being in very good condition. The gearbox and drivetrain are silky-smooth, just like the engine, and no leaks have been noted. Under the bonnet it is clean and tidy, just like the rest of the car. Underneath it is free from rust and leaks, and the A/C cools perfectly.

Service History

The car was serviced before leaving Japan for entry into Sweden and has been serviced continuously since arriving in Sweden. All service parts that have been replaced are OEM and not aftermarket versions. The car has had new spark plugs and generator, and all fluids in the car have been changed. In addition to a full service, the car also received a layer of protective ceramic coating. As of today, the car is not in need of any service and is fully ready to be enjoyed. All inspections have passed without remarks, and the latest inspection was carried out on 2025-10-07. The car has not been driven in winter conditions since arriving in Sweden and is in excellent condition underneath.

Summary

A chance for a glimpse into the Japanese elite and their travels between business meetings, and many consider the model to be undoubtedly the best in class from its era.
