Basic information and history

The Maserati 3200 GT was launched in 1998 as a grand tourer with a clear connection to the brand from Modena. The body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and the model quickly became known for its twin-turbocharged V8 and the iconic boomerang taillights. The 2000 model belongs to the early production with classic design details and distinctive character, 3.2 liter V8 biturbo with factory stated 370 hp paired with rear-wheel drive and a chassis that prioritizes long-distance performance and driving pleasure.

The example at auction has, according to the seller, a odometer reading of 77,500 km which can be guaranteed. Number of previous users: 11 and the car is sold new in Sweden. According to the seller, the car has been unused for a longer period after the last service in 2015. The last approved inspection was carried out on 2025-07-14 . It comes with some history, service records and receipts, but not complete documentation.

Specifications

  • 3.2 liter V8 biturbo, the model's factory data 370 hp and 491 Nm
  • Giugiaro-designed bodywork with the model's signature boomerang taillights
  • Odometer reading 77,500 km, stated to be guaranteed by the seller
  • Last inspected with approved results 2025-07-14
  • Partially documented history according to the seller

Modifications: The engine is optimised for higher turbo pressure according to the seller. No specific mapping data or power increase is stated.

Condition

Body and paint : The seller states a minor scratch at the front and a small dent in front of the hood, approximately 1 cm long and not particularly serious. Otherwise, the body is stated to be in good condition. Glass surfaces are free of scratches and stone chips. Chrome, moldings, headlight lenses and emblems are described as intact and without damage.

Interior : No damage reported. The headliner is in good condition with no mold. The steering wheel, controls and buttons work and are described as being in good condition.

Tires and rims : Tires with good tread depth but older and the car has been on them for a while. The seller indicates that they may need to be replaced before active driving. Rims have minor edge scratches and curb damage.

Mechanics and function : The engine starts easily, runs well and does not consume any oil, but the oil pressure is low at idle when the engine/oil is warm, according to the seller. Brakes with good discs and pads. Gearbox and driveline are said to function normally. The clutch was replaced a few hundred miles ago due to slipping. Note that the engine is chipped for higher boost pressure. Given the car's downtime since 2015, a full inspection is recommended before hard driving.

Service history

Last service performed : 2015. After that, according to the seller, the car has been unused. There is some documentation in the form of protocols and receipts, but probably not a complete history.

Considering the time since the last service, the next owner should plan for a major time-based service. For a 3200 GT, this normally includes replacing the timing belt with tensioner and idler pulley, water pump, engine oil and filter, coolant, brake fluid, power steering oil, fuel filter, spark plugs, and checking the vacuum hoses, charge air system, and rubber parts. The age of the tires suggests replacement despite the tread depth. These measures are in line with what is usually required when a car has been standing still for a longer period.

Summary

A Maserati 3200 GT from 2000 with 77,500 km and an attractive combination of classic Giugiaro design and biturbo V8. The example has a newer clutch, passed inspection 2025-07-14 and presentable exterior and nice interior according to the seller. There are minor cosmetics in the form of a small dent and light rim damage. The engine is chipped for higher turbo pressure, which gives a modified character compared to the original.

The last service was in 2015 and the car has been out of service since then, making a comprehensive time-based service and likely tire change appropriate before regular use. Partially documented history included. For the knowledgeable enthusiast, this example offers a well-run 3200 GT with the right basic characteristics and potential to lift further with a review as above.

On the video (0:55) you can see some red warning signs on the dashboard ("error oil" text + red light on oil pressure indicator on the left. Can you please ) Can you please explian what is wrong? Is there a vaild technical inspection and is it possible to drive to one of EU countries or it has to be collected on a trailer?

  • Mats_TSellerSeptember 18, 2025 20:44

When the engine is warm and idling, the oil warning light sometimes flashes. The oil pressure drops to around 2 bar, but when driving, the oil pressure remains steady at 5 bar. The car has been stored in a heated garage for almost 10 years, which might be a factor.

Hello, you write in the description that the AC doesn´t work. Does it mean that AC doesn´t blow cold and the rest of hvac system otherwise work?

  • Mats_TSellerSeptember 19, 2025 07:50

I haven't done any troubleshooting on the AC, I can only confirm that it's not blowing cold air. You can see that the light on the button turns on, but I don't know what the issue is.

While the speedometer does not work, does the odometer still register the km’s correctly or did that also stop working?

  • Mats_TSellerSeptember 20, 2025 22:56

No, but when I did the Roadworthiness test last a couple of weeks ago it all worked. I don’t know why It stoped to work now.
