Basic information and history

The Dodge Viper RT/10 was presented as a concept in 1989 and entered production in 1992 as a modern interpretation of the classic American roadster, with clear inspiration from the Shelby Cobra. The drivetrain consists of an 8.0-litre aluminium V10, an engine whose basic design was refined with help from Lamborghini, which at the time was owned by Chrysler. Output was stated at around 400 horsepower and torque at just over 630 Nm, sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual Borg-Warner T56. The first generation, often referred to as SR I, is characterised by side-mounted exhaust pipes, the absence of exterior door handles and fixed side windows, and a minimalist philosophy without ABS, traction control or cruise control. The 1995 model year is the last of the first generation, before the RT/10 was updated with, among other things, a rear-exiting exhaust system for 1996.

This example is imported from the USA and has, according to the seller, had three owners. The odometer reads 104,000 km and the seller states that it can be warranted. The car is not in original condition, having been fitted with, among other things, a three-piece hardtop, plexiglass windows and new wheels, more on this below. The car was kept in a heated garage until 2022 and is currently stored in an unheated garage. There is no loan on the vehicle and no deductible VAT.

Equipment and options

  • 8.0-litre V10 with six-speed manual transmission
  • Three-piece hardtop from Jeff Lemke
  • Plexiglass side windows
  • CCW wheels in black/chrome, 18 inches front and 19 inches rear
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 275/35 ZR18 front and 345/30 ZR19 rear
  • Exhaust system of a type other than original
  • Original soft top and original side windows included

The car has been modified in several respects. The open original configuration has been complemented with a three-piece hardtop from Jeff Lemke, and the original side windows have been replaced with plexiglass side windows. The original soft top and original side windows remain and are included with the car. The wheels have been swapped for CCW in black/chrome with dimensions of 18 inches front and 19 inches rear, fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The exhaust system is not original, and the car is also not finished in its original paint.

Condition

Both the body and paint are stated to be in good condition, with the reservation that the paint is not original. The windows are likewise described as being in good condition. The car has passed inspection, most recently in 2025.

According to the seller, the interior is in good condition, as are the instrument panel and headliner. The instrument panel is free of warning lights, the trip meter works, and the seller states that all electronics and all seatbelts function as they should. However, the air conditioning does not work; the cause has not been determined, but the seller believes it is likely a matter of refilling refrigerant.

The tyres and wheels are described as being in good condition. The CCW wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, 275/35 ZR18 front and 345/30 ZR19 rear. According to the seller, the tyres have good tread depth and look good, but were manufactured in 2009, which a buyer should take into account.

Mechanically, the engine is stated to be in good condition, and it starts and runs flawlessly according to the seller. The gearbox is described as being in good condition and shifts flawlessly, the clutch works and the brakes are stated to be in good condition. The car is drivable as it stands.

Service history

The seller states that the car has been fully serviced and that servicing has been carried out every year, with engine oil and oil filter changes. In 2017, according to the seller, all fluids were changed. However, there are no receipts or other documentation to substantiate the service history; the information is based solely on the seller's own statements.

Summary

This is a Dodge Viper RT/10 from 1995, the last model year of the first generation with its characteristic side-mounted exhaust pipes and pure roadster concept. The car is imported from the USA, has had three owners and shows 104,000 km on the odometer. It has been personally built up with a Jeff Lemke hardtop, plexiglass windows, CCW wheels and a non-original exhaust system, while the original soft top and original side windows are included for anyone wishing to restore parts of the original configuration. The condition is stated to be good throughout, and the car passed inspection in 2025. Notable points are that the air conditioning does not work, that the tyres date from 2009, and that the service history lacks documentation. For anyone seeking a first-generation Viper with a usable hardtop and plenty of character, this is an example worth a closer look.
