Basic information and history
The Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z was introduced in 1985 as a sharper version of the Z28, named after the International Race of Champions. The model quickly became known for its more focused chassis with lowered suspension, faster steering ratio, 16-inch alloy wheels and aerodynamic details. The IROC-Z today has a strong cult status among the third generation Camaros, not least in its first model year.
This example is a 1985 Camaro IROC-Z which, according to the seller, was sold new in Pennsylvania in 1985 and imported to Sweden in 1987. During the two years in the USA the car probably had one owner, and once in Sweden it was bought by a gentleman in Småland who in turn owned it for two years. And since 1989 this car has been in the same family. The seller bought it and then transferred it to his mother in 2000 in connection with moving abroad. The current odometer reading is 18,702 km but the original engine was replaced in 1992. The car was inspected without any complaints on 2024-06-12.

The windows have some minor scratches from normal use. The chrome, moldings, headlight lenses and emblems are described as being in good condition. See pictures for your own assessment.

The headliner is in good condition. The steering wheel, controls and buttons show wear from use but are in good condition. The electronics have two noted points: A/C and cruise control do not work.
Tires and rims The tires are older and should be replaced and have approximately 2 mm of tread depth. The magnesium rims have minor damage and would need to be repainted. Original 16 inch Camaro rims are included and have minor wear.
Mechanics and function The engine is said to be in very good condition. According to the seller, it was replaced in 1992 and has driven less than 20,000 km since then. Summary
An early IROC-Z with the right basic recipe and well-chosen upgrades for the knowledgeable enthusiast. ZZ2 350 with TPI, SLP Tri-Y and stainless steel exhaust system, more powerful brakes from Corvette C5 in front and Camaro LS1 in the rear, and Dana 44 with limited slip differential make for a compelling package. The interior has comfortable GTA seats, and several original parts are included, including the original stereo, 16-inch original rims and an extra Camaro tailgate with spoiler.
The condition is described as good with age-appropriate patina, but note the need for tires, A/C service and cruise control. For those looking for a third-generation Camaro with the right components and an interesting history, this is an attractive item.
