Basic information and history

The BMW 635 CSi of the E24 generation is an icon of the German grand tourer tradition. The design was signed by Paul Bracq and combines classic shark aesthetics with a long wheelbase, elegant glass sections and a chassis that is appreciated by drivers who want balance and precision. Under the hood sits the well-known straight-six of the M30 family that gave the model its character and long-distance capacity during the mid-1980s.

The information for this example is provided by the seller. The car was manufactured in 1985 and was imported from Switzerland as moving goods at the end of 1989. The odometer reading is stated at 181,800 kilometers and can be guaranteed according to the seller. The history is unusually well documented with two entire binders from the new car purchase.

Ownership history according to the seller: the car was purchased new by a gentleman in Switzerland in 1985. In 1987 it was taken over by a Swede who worked in Switzerland. When he moved home at the end of 1989, the car was taken with him as moving goods. In 1999 the car was inherited by the son, briefly signed over to the wife and then back to the son. The current owner bought the car in 2008 and has used it for meetings and exhibitions. The color scheme is Diamond Black metallic with pearl beige leather and the car is equipped with an automatic transmission and several contemporary comfort and chassis options.

Modifications and improvements

According to the seller, the chassis has been upgraded with H&R springs and Bilstein shock absorbers all around, which gives it a slightly lower and firmer character. At the front there is a strut brace in polished aluminum. The wheel set consists of BBS RS 005 three-piece split rims. The exhaust system is a custom-built stainless system from Ferrita. Original parts included according to the seller: original shock absorbers and springs, and TRX rims with Michelin TRX tires.

Condition

Body and paint The paint is described as mirror-gloss in diamond black metallic. There is cracked clear paint in a few places and when examined carefully in backlight, occasional wash scratches can be seen. A few stone chips are present in the upper part of the front. The front spoiler has been repainted. The body has been reconditioned but has wash scratches on some surfaces. Moldings, chrome, headlight lenses and emblems are in very good condition with the exception of a crack in the right taillight.

Glass All windows are original and green tinted. There is a crack about twenty years old in the lower part of the front window on the passenger side, partially hidden by the wiper blade.

Interior The leather upholstery and side panels are in very good condition. The fixed beige plush floor mat and the loose plush floor mats are in extremely good condition. The lower outer side bolster of the driver's seat has wear. The headliner is in very good condition. The leather steering wheel has visible wear.

Electrical and function Electric windows, sunroof and other functions work according to the seller. The motor-controlled original antenna does not come up. The air conditioning system does not cool as it should and is stated to have low pressure.

Wheels The tires have a lot of tread left, approximately five to seven millimeters, but were purchased in 2012. The tread and type were chosen to fit the car's eighties look.

Mechanics The engine compartment is clean and tidy. The valve clearance was last adjusted at 169,000 kilometers. The brakes are described as very good. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and nicely. The propeller shaft support bearings and Hardy clutch have been replaced. The differential lock is 25 percent according to specification.

Service history

According to the seller, the service book is filled out according to the manufacturer's intervals. The last service was carried out in 2025 at Rolands Bilservice in Kalmar, with a change of engine oil, brake fluid and coolant and resetting the service indicator. The car comes with two binders with documentation from new, including previous service records, history and receipts.

Last inspection was carried out on August 20, 2025.
