Basic information and history

The 1977 Chevrolet Caprice Classic is an iconic symbol of 1970s America – a time when comfort, space and V8 roar dominated the country roads. This model has long been a favorite among car enthusiasts and collectors, not least thanks to its period design and relaxed feel behind the wheel. To own a roadster like this is to truly feel the wings of history when cruising or on a leisurely summer vacation.

This example only has 10,118 km on the odometer, but according to the seller it has driven approximately 5,170 km during the three decades the seller has owned the vehicle. The car has had 14 users according to the registration certificate and has been idle for most of 2018–2024. The vehicle is reportedly sold in Sweden.

Among past adventurers and tours, there are certainly many stories – this is a car that invites travel-loving summer dreams. The seller has owned the car for thirty years and can therefore offer a long and well-documented ownership history.

Equipment and options

  1. Differential locked rear axle (as specified)
  2. Moderately tuned engine (according to previous owner)
  3. Four electric windows
  4. Central locking
  5. Electrically adjustable front seat
  6. Electric tailgate opening
  7. Cruise control (currently out of order)
  8. Air conditioning/A/C (renovated – not installed, currently out of order)

In addition to the solid original equipment, the car has received a moderate upgrade of the engine's performance, according to the previous owner. The engine has a four-port Holley carburetor and renovated cylinder heads (February 1999). The rear axle is also reportedly equipped with a differential lock.

Condition

Body and exterior condition: The paint is generally in good condition. There is a scratch on the right front door, and minor scratches in the windows. There is rust above the upper hinges of the front doors (A-pillar both sides) and at the window frame on the driver's door. The body has had the floor rust repaired previously. Chrome, moldings, headlight lenses and emblems are considered acceptable.

Interior: For its age, the interior is surprisingly good quality. The driver's seat has a small cigarette burn. The dashboard has dry cracks. The headliner looks okay but is sagging slightly, while the steering wheel, buttons and controls are still in good working order.

Tires and rims: The car is delivered on four tires with approximately 6 mm tread depth – basically new according to the seller.

Mechanics and function: The engine runs well, with, among other things, a new water pump and new battery installed in June 2025. According to the seller, the gearbox and driveline are in good condition, the brakes were replaced in the 1990s but are still in good condition. The A/C has been refurbished but not installed, and the wiper motor has been replaced by another working unit. The cruise control is currently out of order.

Service history

Service and maintenance have been carried out continuously by the current owner for thirty years. General maintenance measures and simple repairs have been carried out by the owner himself. The last inspection with a passing result was carried out on September 17, 2024 without any remarks and previous inspection reports are available.

The car has been parked between autumn 2018 and September 2024, but has otherwise been used sparingly and cared for carefully. Receipts and documentation from the owner's 30 years at the wheel are preserved to some extent.

Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for those looking for a classic, full-fledged American cruiser with the right feel and character.

With a long ownership history, documented use, modernized engine and original details, this is a Caprice Classic that can both become a utility vehicle for the enthusiast or a basis for further renovation.
