The BMW 2000 belongs to the Neue Klasse and represents the mature phase of BMW's light sports sedans around 1970. The model combines the two-liter, four-cylinder M10 four-stroke engine with a chassis with independent suspension and clear steering feel, packaged in a period-typical body with the characteristic Hofmeister kink. The 2000 A designation usually refers to an automatic transmission, which made the model attractive to drivers who wanted comfort without sacrificing the balanced driving feel.
