Basic information and history
The 1969 Marcos 3000 GT is a British GT sports car with a fiberglass body and characteristic aerodynamics designed by Frank Costin. The model combines low weight with Ford's 3.0-liter Essex V6 for a distinctive mechanical feel. From 1969 onwards, the 3.0-liter cars were given a steel frame instead of the previous plywood monocoque. This makes the 1969 model year particularly interesting for drivers who want the classic Marcos feel combined with a more robust chassis.
The example at auction was imported from England and came to Malmö in 1988. According to the seller, the car has had four owners. The current owner bought the car in 2005 and has driven 1,440 km in 20 years. The odometer reading shows 7,544 km when cataloged. Total mileage over the car's lifetime is unknown. Marcos is an extremely rare car on Swedish roads and this one is said to be in really nice condition.
