The Volvo 1800S is among the most iconic models in Swedish automotive history. After the first P1800s were built at Jensen in England, production moved home to Lundby in Gothenburg in 1963, and thus the designation 1800S was born, where the S stands for Sweden. The 1966 model year is interesting because the B18B engine received a boost to 115 horsepower that year, thanks to among other things a sharper camshaft, and the robust five-bearing crankshaft combined with overdrive gave the car a long-distance touring character that few contemporary sports cars could match. It was also this combination that allowed an 1800S to become the car with the highest mileage in the world.
